Please see work around I posted way back in thread above.
Installed that application and not sure what it should be doing. Looking at its options, there's nothing controlling filename alignment.

Just to be clear, I'm at the other end of the problem, I don't have issue with the filenames being left justified. That's the default position for the view I use (Tiles), what annoys me is the editable text centering itself in the tile when trying to rename items.

Hi, installed qttabar restores the text position under the icon. This is an incidental effect. Its function, if you read about it, is primarily to add tabs to explorer. (file explorer now). Besides that it can add panels and colour explorer. Thus there is no option about text position. There never was, and I don't expect there to be one.

If,however, you are concerned about sthg to do with tiles, that is not the subject of this thread, and so I would suggest you either find a thread related to that, if there be such, or start a new thread.

File explorer has nothing to do with tiles.

The File Explorer view option, not the tiles from start menu/screen, don't even remember last time I looked at those things.

qttabar didn't affect the filename position as you suggested it did in your installation, mine, when set to "_ icons" (extra large, large, medium or small) are still left justified. I can play around with the extra panels and stuff, but the weird behavior remains.

The issue is that filenames are really out of whack on File Explorer when using certain views. The topic creator has his share of issues when using Large Icons and others joined in, I just didn't feel like posting a new topic to point the issue with the particular view I use (tiles), so I posted here instead. They do display correctly, but go haywire centering themselves when I try to rename (which is the inverse of the topic creator's problem).

Anyway, I will refrain from posting more, since it doesn't add any and just causes confusion it seems.

Try enabling the toolbars in file explorer options. Simply installing it doesn't necessarily mean it's effective. But you can then set the toolbars so it makes no other visible difference to explorer.

    Death of a Thousand cuts

I too have had these Icon Text alignment problems across all my computers post "Anniversary Edition", which just add to list of minor niggles as Microsoft march on with their constantly evolving operating system.
For a long time now, when I've gone to customise an icon, I've had to go through the procedure twice, particularly if I've moved an icon into a different folder & the icon blanks.
And what happened to being able to finalise an optical disk in explorer. Had to install third party software to get around that one.

Maybe the upcoming Universal File Explorer( under development), a replacement for Windows File Explorer eventually, will address these issues and save us all from the death of a thousand cuts. I've enjoyed reading the various comments on these issues and will look forward to some solutions forthcoming from Microsoft.

Thanks Edwin, I hadn't seen it, not an insider myself & haven't had a chance to use it. Does it address the icon customize & optical disk finalize issues ?

It's still early in development so, it doesn't do much except display a few folders and maybe opens image and audio files.
