Hi, thanks for trying this. If I disable Qttabbar in explorer options, I get the left justified text as I think I posted above.

It could be some setting in Qttabbar:

    Could you try ONLY enabling
    Qt base toolbar in Options.

Enabling and disabling that for me determines (after closing and relaunching explorer.. did you do that)? whether text is left justified for medium & large icons.

Could you post a screenshot of that option?

Hi, it is that option, consistently. Should have said View, Options in Explorer to be clear, sorry.
    Too many options.

Coincidently, this is related to another oddity about which I posted a question (not surprisingly unanswered): blank icons for recent files in Quick Access.

Disabling the same toolbar restores those icons.

I have the same problem with justification but don't have that toolbar.

This needs a fix. I hate how MS take two steps forward and on step back.

What was the need to change text alignment? They are their own worst enemy. It's the details that make a product.

Suggest you send feedback (feedback in Cortana's search box e.g.) or report via MS's technet forum.

A clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64. The text under icons in File Explorer is left-aligned. Left alignment kicks in when the text under the icon is long, does not fit into a single line and becomes multi-line (wrapped). Any short single-line text is displayed as centered.

This has nothing to do with third-party software. My system if a completely fresh install with no third-party software (with the exception of drivers, of course).

Fortunately, this problem does not affect desktop icons.

A funny thing about this blunder is that when one begins to edit the file name, it suddenly switches to centered alignment for the duration of editing. Once editing is done, it is again displayed as left-aligned.

Agreed it's a bug in the upgrade- just to be clear, I don't see it if I use the program I quoted- lucky me for once!
