Try removing the .MOV from the file name. The extension may be confusing for VLC or make a copy and rename it to C:\Users\G...\....\IMG_0931.mp4 and see if VLC will play the mp4
Do you mean the big MOV or the little mov.
OT joke. A friend from Worcestershire never pronounced his aitches, and was a bad speller. He'd often ask his wife whether a word began with a big as or a little as: has or as, that is.

I did not, at first, see the double "MOV.mov". My error, sorry..... Maybe renaming the extension will work. Taking off the .mov

In Properties the doubled mov doesn't seem to be in the file name, but in the file type (pic att'd).

You should be able to change the file name by typing over it in the properties box. Just click next to the V and backspace the .MOV away, and apply. Should end up with Image_0931.mov

If you change your folder options to show extensions, in explorer it should also read Image_0931.mov

Right click it in Explorer and choose Play with VLC.

It appears to be small. Any chance you could Zip it and attach? See if any of us can get it to play?

Your doubled mov in the properties window is normal. Try replacing mov with mp4 (it's quick, revesible and can't hurt to try). 483 bytes is super small. Is it like a 5 sec video or audio ?

Very small. I wondering if that is just the metadata and the actual movie data is 0. How was this file received? Was it an email attachment from an iPhone? I've had cases where the download of the attachment resulted in a 0 length file. Had to do with the service that iPhone users use to email attachments. It come thru iCloud using maildrop....

I agree. I think he saved or downloaded the wrong attachment, not the primary file.

Yes. It seems a zero byte length or truncated file.

My daughter has tried to resend to me, but it fails "message not delivered". I suggested she send it zipped. I know it won't come quickly, as work, family and musical commitments, and forthcoming holiday leave not much time.
I have found that the IPhone message contained IMG931 as a wrapper and within it are the IMG files discretely numbered for each item he took part in. Might I be able to import them individually, as things stand?
