do not have permission to access this file (pictures)

Hi all,

I've seen old threads similar here but can't seem to find a solution:

Windows button> life at a glance> photos.... there are some photos that are blank and the error "It looks you do not have permission to access this file. Check permissions and try again."

If I navigate to my pictures, there are no folders or images with dates corresponding to the blank pictures I accessed above.

I upgraded from 7 to 10 about 3 months ago and never noticed this until now. 75% of my pictures are there but there are a number of contiguous dates with multiple blank photos (with file numbers.) Oddly, the pictures I CAN see are both earlier and later than the ones that I "don't have permission for." I have a back up of my stuff so I can get them but I am interested in the *why* and any fix that I ought to apply.

Please let us know the sources of the pictures contained in the 'Photos' app.

In Photos app, click on settings, and it will display the sources. Like this ....

Sources are:

C:\Users\Will\Pictures
c:\Users\Public\Pictures

So one is your user account and the other is the public folder, which should be accessible to anyone logged on to this computer.

Please check those locations and compare the contained files with those in the Photos app.
You may get a complete idea about what is actually going on there.
