    Colon Key Not Working

Hello, my colon key is not working on my keyboards. It was not working on my last keyboard, a USB Logitech. And it's not working on my brand new keyboard, a wireless Microsoft. My virtual on-screen keyboard does work correctly. Like this ; :

I found a thread on the Microsoft Community from a couple of years ago with the same issue, and one clue was about the Nvidia Game Overlay. I was hoping this was my issue, but I disabled the overlay and restarted my computer and the issue persists. I've had this issue for months and I thought it was my keyboard, so I've been using Alt+58 and 59, but now I'd like to actually fix the problem.

    I'm running Windows 10 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3324)

A related problem, though it seems to be ok today, is that when I type, my cursor automatically moves left one character. So if I were to type out numbers sequentially, it would read 54321 etc. This also happened with my last keyboard, which after troubleshooting and being unable to resolve it, was why I decided to buy this new keyboard. Again, it seems to be fine today though.

Does anyone have any ideas? I appreciate your help.

Have you verified that all your language and regional settings are correct?

Hey thanks for the idea. I went through my settings and verified and specified each language, region, and keyboard setting. I restarted my computer but alas the problem persists.

Hi, check in no. 3 above as it says that the keyboard and assigned type of keyboard match.

    Still no luck?

Does it work normally in Safe Mode? And after a clean boot (Google if unsure or see tutorial)?

    As
My virtual on-screen keyboard does work correctly.
    - it can't somehow have been assigned as a hotkey.

I found a thread on the Microsoft Community from a couple of years ago with the same issue,
Probably not the same, only similar.
i cant type these charactors with my laptop's keyboard nor with my other keyboard nor with the on-screen keyboard

Thanks for the help, both of you. Then only thing I haven't tried so far is uninstalling my drivers. Under keyboards in the device manager, there are two.

Should I uninstall just one? Or both, and at the same time? Etc. Thank you.

    Again,
Does it work normally in Safe Mode? And after a clean boot (Google if unsure or see tutorial)?
Normally you can uninstall drivers and have them reinstalled on restart as I'm sure you know. E.g.
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...9-9422797bf1b7

Note the option to delete the driver.

Of course there's the risk of having no keyboard after the restart...
    Create a restore point beforehand.

    FYI: Notice from
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...client-drivers
KBDHID.sys: HID client mapper driver for keyboards. Converts HID usages into scancodes to interface with the existing keyboard class driver.

A problem here could result in a key not responding.

Also see the Keyboard Layout section.

Thanks again. I tried deleting both keyboard devices, then rebooted. Now, I have two copies of "HID Keyboard Device", but no "Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard" driver. And my colon key still isn't working

Also, not sure if this related, but now my computer won't shut down (as of a few days ago). When I tell my computer to shut down, it just restarts.

Edit: just tried shutting it down and this time it worked.

Here's what I've got according to my mouse and keyboard center.
    Device Name(Device Name),Serial Number(Serial Number),Firmware Version(Firmware Version),PID/VID,Color ID(Color ID)
    HID Keyboard Device,000351521603,01 17 ,0x045E/0x0830,256,

Does it work normally in Safe Mode? And after a clean boot (Google if unsure or see tutorial)?
