I have this little 11.6" Asus laptop with W 8.1. The good thing is that I paid only $99 for it - on Black Friday. The bad thing is that it has only 30GB of disk storage on an eMMC. After the recovery and the EFI partitions that leaves only 20GB for the C partition.

I obviously try to avoid installing any unnecessary programs. That's why I resorted to Wbadmin for imaging and it works all the time. I already did one restore which worked perfectly.

So as far as wbadmin is concerned, everything worked correctly. Now to try and mount C:.

Just noticed the sizes. They seem awful small to me:

The middle VHDX is not small. It is 90GBs.

Did you ever run sfc /scannow. It looks like you got some system bug.

I think I figured it out. Even though I was getting an error, the vhdx was being mounted but no driver letter was assigned. I assigned Z: and I was then able to browse it.

I detached the mounts then this time I use Disk Management as your tutorial said and it worked fine, no errors and I can browse it in Windows Explorer. Previously I had been right clicking on the vhdx file and selecting Mount.

So the real problem was I didn't follow directions!

LOL, I am glad you got it sorted. I should have made it clearer that the mount comes without a drive letter. My bad. I added a Note to the posting.

How To Schedule Windows System Image Backup

Became intrigued with WBadmin and found the attached link. While it is a step-by-step for Windows 8.1, it works with Windows 10 Build 10061. Was able to mount the image and did a restore. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing the link. You can, of course, make it fancier with a scheduled task. But my intent was to keep it simple.
