    Error message BCD 0xc0000098


    Please tell me what this means and what you suggest I do to get it running again.
    I am intermediate to advanced user

    The computer in question WAS running Windows 10.
    Make and Model: HP 23 All in One
    Manufactured in 2014
    Came with Windows 8
    Upgraded to 10

    Usually the most effective way to fix BCD error is to make a bootable USB flash drive or CD/DVD of Kyhi's recovery drive:
    Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

    If you already use Macrium Reflect Free and have a Macrium Reflect rescue disk/flash drive, that will work too.

    Run Macrium Reflect Free from Kyhi's recovery drive or the Macrium rescue disk. In the restore menu is a utility to fix Windows boot problems. That utility should fix it for you.

    Hi,

    Yep. BCD = Boot Configuration Data file.

    After the fix make sure to make a full backup including any system partitions. Macrium Reflect Free is very easy to use, very fast and never failed me (touches wood).

    Question is, how did it get damaged this badly ?
