Interesting. The crashes happened while using a few other programs like Firefox, Thunderbird, Skype etc. I didn't open any of the listed programs in Ccleaner. Maybe Ccleaner needs an update - I'll check on that and report back.
Windows Script Host also confirms Windows 10 v10.0.10586.0
I downloaded the v5.19.5637 update for CCleaner and it installed fine and now shows Windows 10 instead of Windows 8.1 Analysis seems to shows the same list to clean as the one before.
The Reliability Monitor is cool. Did that exist in Win7? It starts on the day I did the Win10 install and the crashes it shows are "Windows ... Shutdown unexpectedly" entries. Now that I think of it, I want to preserve the record it's keeping so I don't want CCleaner to clean that. Is there something that if it's checked for cleaning in CCleaner, it will clean this record? If so what is it so I can uncheck it before I clean.
Good Points TC !! Didn't see that post when he put in his version information.
I didn't think of turning off Defender, as I've never used it.
Think we have asked the OP for a screenshot of his Winver at least once already. ( Slartybart )
@BretMan Could you please post a Screenshot of your Winver (Block out any personal info) so we can check your Build # ??
Thanks, Mike :)
I didn't post all the winver info since just the Win10 version was all that was asked for then. I'm not sure what exactly is personal in it but I blocked anything with "ID" in it, below:
The 3 CCleaner item you listed are now unchecked. Windows Defender isn't listed. Does that mean Win10 turned off my On setting of it from Win7? Aside from not wanting CCleaner to delete handy troubleshooting records, I also want to minimize the availability of any personal info., if possible, which may be accessed by malware. Regarding this is there anything I should leave checked in CCleaner to clean? The Windows Advanced section lists: Windows Event Logs (leaving unchecked), Old Prefetch Data, Menu Order Cache, Tray Notifications Cache, Windows Size/Location Cache, Environment Path, User Assist History, IIS Log Files, Old Windows Installation, Custom Files & Folders, Wipe Free Space. Do any of those possible contain data that could come back to haunt me with malware?
Ok. Wow, it does seem to need updating but is strange since I just installed the latest so recently with the Win10 update.
I missed Windows Defender in CCleaner Utilities. I looked for it under Windows and I see it now under Utilities and unchecked it. Thanks. Now I noticed that by default, after the CCleaner update install yesterday, Acronis True Image is listed and unchecked. This is odd because I don't have Acronis installed and isn't in my list of apps. I may have installed a trialware in the past but I would have uninstalled it. Revo doesn't list it either. Any suggestions about what to do with that?
@BretMan
You should also install Malwarebytes Free version on your computer IF you don't already have it. This program will run fine with Windows Defender. Their is a link for it in this Tutorial here.
