Set Desktop Shortcuts to Run As Administrator (.urls)
So long story short I've created a brand new install of Windows 10 and created a local Administrator account called Pete. I placed a bunch of standard .url shortcuts on the desktop that open in IE11. My problem is that some of these sites need need iexplore.exe to Run As Administrator otherwise they do not work correctly. How do I setup these shortcuts to always Run As Administrator for IE11?
I was able to get IE11 to always run as Administrator from the taskbar by going to %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar and setting the shortcut there to Run as Administrator.
If I go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe there is no way to set it to always Run as Administrator.
How do I do this now on Win10?
Do as you did before.
Go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar, right click on Internet Explorer.
On the Shortcut tab, click on the Advanced button.
Check Run as Administrator.
I'm really curious though, why do you need IE to run as administrator. That seems like an invitation to disaster.
Internet Explorer is being eliminated, so everything should be opening in the Edge browser. When you get the warning about needing to elevate privileges. That is warning you to make sure that is the action you want to do. Also saving Favorites on the Desktop, is going to cause the OS to consider them not as privileged. The last thing is that you are not creating per say an Administrator account with Windows 10. You are just creating a User account with limited elevated privilege.
After I install an application and it creates a shortcut on the desktop, I can't move the shortcut to another position. When I try to move it, I get a small slashed circle. What's up with that?
I'm using MS Office and find some Desktop shortcuts will not pin to the Taskbar.
My Desktop shortcut to Outlook pins just fine but, shortcuts to FILES will not pin or drag'

I opted to hide the desktop icons, via a right-click on the desktop
but now I can't un-hide them - right-clicking on the desktop has no effect at all..!!? (???)
Does anyone know how to do this? With Internet Explorer you simply dragged the site icon in the title bar to the desktop, but I can't seem to do this with Edge.:(
