I already scanned my drives for errors, and all was well. I entered SMART and it says that both my 3.5 inch hard drive and SSD are "good."

    I see this:

    <Data Name="DeviceName">\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1</Data>

That says to me the corruption is in a shadow copy of a drive or partition, not the drive or partition itself.

Shadow Copy (also known as Volume Snapshot Service, Volume Shadow Copy Service or VSS) is a technology included in Microsoft Windows that allows taking manual or automatic backup copies or snapshots of computer files or volumes, even when they are in use.

Getting exactly the same error on a Win 10 Pro system - HDD is OK no Smart or Chkdsk errors - just keep getting multiple Event 55 errors every day mentioning the Shadow Copy.

Does any one have any clues as to what is happening here.

I believe that for me it was when making an image of my partitions. I do not think it's important because the backups work fine.
