Only upgraded to Win 10 a week ago and so far so good as far as I am concerned. I did a Disk Cleanup to clear out the old Windows files because my SSD was starting to look a little full, not so sure that was a good idea but in for a penny......

    Final thoughts..
    1. I will transition over to Win10 when the RTM comes out this summer.
2 For the time being I'll stick with Win8.1.1 as my primary and I'll test Win10TP in VmWare.

I like some of the features of Win10 and at the price(Free) it's going to be hard to pass up. And in the long run it's going to be the way to go I think.

I will do a clean install of win10,
As far as cloning I'm using the free Aomie version, with no probs on win10 machine and Acronis on 2 others.
Make sure the destination drive is allocated, if diskpart from the command line can't stt it, a few simple steps and YouTube will fix it.... I had the same issue on old ide drive

I hope to perform a clean instillation as well.. but an upgrade will work if I can also make an ISO from the ESD file.

Yeah a clean installation would be good, I have all driver installers and program installers for my desktop and laptop on a 32GB USB thumbdrive so after OS installation the rest will go fast and smooth. I have already tested which drivers to keep on my windows 7 laptop(downloaded the windows 8 version form ASUS site) and now know which ones I'll need and which ones I'll use windows default version from because some cause BSODs. I haven't tried it on my Lenovo desktop yet and will wait until my laptop is up and running at GA time in case I also get compatibility issues(which are quickly found with a system image between each driver installation, I'll just have to install them one after another).

I still cant fully make up my mind

Laptop almost certainly get it, phone will definitely get it
Tablet is the stumbling block, as the thread is abut how windows is at the moment I don't want it on this, however it would be daft to not put it here and ignore how it integrates with my others devices

positives on one side, negatives on the other

far to confusing, perhaps I will go and enjoy the sun this afternoon and then change my mind when it's cold again tomorrow

I understand how you feel. On one hand Windows 8.1 is still a very good OS and with a third party start menu it's just like Win10, IMO. And while the Windows 10 start menu is nice and with the addition of Spartan is nice.. is it worth the hassle to upgrade or perform a clean instillation? Windows 10 will be free for one year so I don't see the need to rush into it. I'll stick with Win8.1 and after I get to see what happens with Win10 then I can make the swap.

Like I said in an earlier post I will eventually switch.. the only question is when. I'm sure before the end of the year I will.

    Jeff :)

This is where my willpower will let me down

As much as my intentions to wait are, as soon as I see an option on my screen to say upgrade to 10, I will :)
