From the latest versions I am almost certain that my laptop will be upgrade to 10, starting to like the look of it now
My tablet however is the total opposite, currently this will be sticking with 8.1 unless big improvements are made on the touch side

If you are already using W10 as a main OS then perhaps by inference that means you wont be going back to anything else.
If you only have one device then there is nothing to stop you imaging your current set up.......

It will all get very interesting, that much is for sure. For every one person that knows something about W10 there must be tens (or hundreds) of thousands using 7/8/8.1 that have no idea what is coming. How that is handled... that could be a good thread in its own right

Sure they will . . . it's called money. I'm pretty sure system builders have plenty of ways to get the update for their clients.

Since Windows 7 is still supported one can build a new system using it and then upgrade .

Then they will have to release a retail version. The real question should be how much will it cost.

Since they are giving free upgrades to Win 8, 8.1 and 7 users it may cost allot. MS has to make up the money in some way , other than the app store.

Yep, especially since there're a lot of folks still on Windows XP and MS has said no free upgrade for them. There will also be many folks whose systems will croak on them, if not sooner, then later. If they can't build their own, they'll need to buy a new one with an OEM copy of Windows 10.

I don't know how many large system builders are out there, but offhand I can think of HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, Dell. And then there're the small "mom and pop" companies . . .

Microsoft seems to be doing its best to do away with all hardware media and going to download only, but although I have tried to figure out a way they can do that, it just won't quite compute. The more I think about it, the more I believe there will just have to be some type of media to at least install Windows with.

There are just too many folks who still don't have a fast Internet service. Also, there are more and smaller laptops that will come without a DVD drive. Tablets don't have DVD drives, do they? Certainly mine don't, but then they're 'droids. So . . . I'm back at square one, wondering what the next computers will be like.
