    Note   Note
This video is unlisted both here and on YouTube. It is an extract of first video in series I am currently working on about Macrium Reflect (imaging and restoring images) and Macrium viBoot (servicing, editing, updating & upgrading images).

Editing the videos I thought this small part about difference between differential and incremental images might be helpful for some users. No narration, only short visual and text explanations, in final Macrium reflect - Create a System Image video from which this a part it will be explained more extensively. Really, this is just a short and simple video to explain the difference.

The Macrium videos will be posted in coming days.

Great, Kari! So far, I haven't succeeded in creating WinPE through Macrium. So it looks like I need a tutorial.

You are getting to be an absolute professional at this!

This post of you dear @Wynona started a lengthy discussion about Macrium and the different image types. I asked mods to move that discussion to its own thread here: About Differential Incremental images - Windows 10 Forums

Four new videos. As they belong together, I will post them in one post. First some background:

     Windows 10 Digital Activation

    Digital Entitlement = Digital License

Windows 10 version 1511 introduced Digital Entitlement. It remains the same in version 1607 but Microsoft decided to change the name to Digital License.

To put it simple it means that as soon as Windows 10 version 1511 or later is activated it is entitled to digital activation. The product key or other authorization for activation is stored on MS activation servers based on machine signature and GUID.

It seems that this extremely simple concept is for some seemingly "experienced" users incredible difficult to understand. So difficult that I have been insulted, I have been called a troll, or I have just been completely ignored when trying to explain this. I will make this one more try in my efforts to get digital activation explained.

In version 1511 when activated with a product key the activation page in Settings shows the product key but nevertheless Windows is already after activation entitled to digital activation in all subsequent reinstalls. Version 1607 made this a bit easier for these "experienced" users to understand the concept, showing Digital License directly after a product key activation:

However, the system has been the same since version 1511.

Following video shows Windows 10 Home version 1511 activated with product key, then directly after activation restart booting from install media, reinstalling Windows 10 Home version 1511 wiping the hard disk empty, deleting all partitions and skipping the product key. Windows will be automatically activated because it is entitled to digital activation:

One machine can have multiple digital licenses. In following video Windows 10 Home N is activated, then upgraded to Windows 10 Pro N by changing the product key, and immediately thereafter restarted booting from install media, reinstalling Windows 10 Home N version 1511 wiping the hard disk empty, deleting all partitions and skipping the product key. Windows will be automatically activated because it is entitled to digital activation:

Same machine as above, again restarted and this time clean installed Windows 10 Pro N, wiping the hard disk empty, deleting all partitions and skipping the product key. Windows will be automatically activated because it is entitled to digital activation, the machine in question having two digital licences (Windows 10 Home N and Windows 10 Pro N):

Notice that this last video also shows that digital activation is not tied to a Microsoft Account; although MS account is recommended and let's you tie the activation to your MS account, it is only needed for troubleshooting activation issues.

Whatever activation method or product key type used to activate Windows 10 version 1511 or later, as soon as it is activated it is entitled to digital activation, getting a digital license.

    That's it.

Thanks. I really appreciate your kind words :)

This last series of four videos was in my opinion needed, so many even seemingly experienced users seem to have it impossible to understand this simple concept:

    information   Information
As soon as Windows 10 version 1511 or later is activated, regardless of the activation method or product key type, it is entitled to digital activation and license.

Therefore, the product key or other activation methods are not needed when re-installing Windows.

Hey @Kari, great videos. One question: @Wynona had a system which was originally an OEM Home, which she upgraded with a Pro key, then wiped to bare metal.. When reinstalling, Windows auto - installed Home, (as the original version was W8 and that's what it saw in the BIOS). She was never offered the option to choose. And, in order to upgrade again to Pro, she had to input her unique key.

With this digital entitlement/license, I was under the impression you didn't need the key anymore; am I mistaken? How would she get Pro on there without using her key? Use one of the generic keys? Would she have to use a Pro-only ISO? If so, how would she get/make that?

    Thanks!

Using a multiple edition install media, it should let you choose. See the third video, in 1:40 I start the upgrade from Home to Pro, then when upgrade is done I do a clean install selecting Home or Pro in 4:19.

Option two is to use install media only containing the preferred edition, in this case Pro.

Option three is the "legacy" way, enter product key for preferred edition when Windows setup starts.

I've seen issues when Home key is in BIOS / UEFI, Windows not letting you choose edition even though Pro is digitally licenced already.
