I've been thinking about how best I should go about learning to create video instructions and my very analytical mind (you weren't really surprised, were ya?) has decided how I should go about it, but not in which order.

I realize that Dude and Essenbe have both taken off in a long run with learning how to do this, while I'm still cogitating . . . however, there are at least four parts to the equation and I'm not sure which one to tackle first. Yeh, sadly, I need to learn things in order or it won't stick. So . . .

Which comes first; the chicken or the egg? Would it be best to learn the basics of PowerPoint (I think I will only need the basics of that). I also have a slide show program called PixPlay, but haven't used it in quite awhile and also don't know if it will work on Win 10. It did work on Win 7. Would a slide show program work as well as PowerPoint?

So, once I have that one under me belt, which one would I work with next and how?

Would it be a good idea for us to have more often, but shorter sessions in order to learn the basics a little bit at the time?

These are ideas I'm throwing out and if they're not how I (or we) should proceed, it will be no big thing if I'm told to go fly a kite. :)

I will install that app from Store and test it, we could then just gather together one of these days to talk generally about video making, price of scotch and other essentials of the life, to test how the app is working.

If it will be OK, I write a tutorial about how to use it and join online meetings.
That would be fantastic, Kari. Also, while I was downloading Lync, I saw a Lync Handbook and downloaded that also to see if I could get some help from it. Of course, I haven't looked into it yet.

Kari, it keeps wanting to use the Web App and I cannot convince it to use the real app. When I plug in the URL you gave, it says it can't find the meeting.

I found the windows Lync App a lot better than using the browser plugin. It looks and operates much better.

I have been playing with Expression and wanted to share how to add an Audio overlay to your vid for those interested.

Here is a vid of expression showing how to add the Audio overlay

I ran this on the add gmail to the windows mail app I posted earlier
    https://www.tenforums.com/general-dis...tml#post232639

This is the same video (V2) with an audio overlay

I am still playing with it. I expanded the menu and there are more options for the audio overlay

Using Audacity to mix music and speech into videos

The folks who were on the video meeting on Saturday evening will remember I mentioned the Audacity audio editor.

So that gave me an idea for a video.

Here is a video of installing Audacity, but the main purpose is to listen to how I've mixed the speech and music together and see what you think?

And here is a video of how I did it.

It's a bit rough at the moment but I've run out of time to polish it up... so be gentle in your feedback! I also realise I still need to work on my sound levels and could do with a better microphone setup.

    I hope it's useful though.

The main problem with using Audacity in the way I did is that it's less easy to sync the video and audio, so I did it in one take which could be less convenient, especially on a long video. But it is powerful and it has many more audio effects you could use. Also you could record many segments of tracks and combine them together into one.

Just a short off-topic comment. Audacity can also make some really neat, and somewhat bizarre, ringtones and such! Back to topic.....
