I didn't understand half of what you said, Cliff, but that's OK. I gleaned enough to understand. How's that for an oxymoron!?

I keep all my files on an external hard drive. I have a couple of 500 GBs and one 1 TB. The HD in this machine is 1 TB, so I guess I'd have to use the 1 TB external for backup?
You don't have to. What I was trying to say, incremental backups(which you get with the Home version, but not the free version) are only really needed if you have too little space. What a full backup is, is obvious. Read this for the difference between Differential and Incremental Backups: Storage Basics on incremental vs differential backup it doesn't get too technical and even I can understand it:), so I hope you might also.

I have 78.6GB used on this disk with W10 and just couple of hours ago I made Revo backup of whole disk and that backup file is 68.4 GB. It usually ends up being somewhat smaller than source.

Since I would only be doing backup and restore, would there ever be a need for the "for pay" version?

If I need it, although the price is steep for a four-pack, I'd probably pay if need be.
The free version has always worked great for me, (personal use).

I'm with Simrick. The free version will do everything I need to do.

It surely does the job for me. Disk or usb made with it can even fix some BOOT problems without actually restoring whole thing.

At first, I made a boot CD but after few updates when it had to be changed I made a USB and made an ISO of it so I don't have to tie one up just for that. With that ISO I can bang up boot USB or CD any time and update it too, same way.

New video: How to create a Shut down dialog:

Please notice that this video was made as a training project, to learn to use HitFilm 3 Express video editor and is the first video I have ever made with this editor. Audio levels jump disturbingly, transitions are not as I expected and so on. Be gentle in your critics :)

Thanks to @Edwin for the idea for this video, he showed us how to create this dialog in our last Ten Forums Live Chat, and to @Wynona for telling about this free editor.
