Can I delete Windows 10 ESD installation files? - Techtrix says not to delete it unless you are pressed for space.

How much space does it take up?
It states that it is a Push Button Reset feature.

Is It Safe to Delete Everything in Windows’ Disk Cleanup? do you have the Windows ESD checkbox they show? And how much space is ESD folder taking up?

So it's up to you to decide. If you Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect then you can safely delete it after making a fresh backup if you don't anticipate ever wanting to do a reset like me.

The Windows ESD Installation Files option is not there in Disk Cleanup.

The Windows ESD Installation Files option is not there in Disk Cleanup for me.

It's strange. Some people have the ESD folder, and some don't. And some have the folder and it's empty.
And the files and sub-folders inside my ESD folder are dated 2018.

I wasn't at my PC when I posted last night. Just checked and I have it and it's about 4 GB, but I'm just going to leave it alone for now as I have plenty of disk space

It's old from 2020 when I last did an in-place repair upgrade, so it can probably be deleted as it's rotten and obsolete by now.

@Stigg , I moved my C:\ESD\Windows 4GB of old files to another drive and PC still boots and works fine unsurprisingly. I'll probably delete it off the other drive sometime in the near term.
