Menu at bottom of screen stops responding

I have tried to install windows 10 three times now. every time I have the menu at the bottom of the screen will stop responding after a few start ups and I can't use my dvd rw drive or usb drive. it says i don't have one. I'm running windows 7. would appreciate any help I could get. I was looking at the different tutorials and was wondering if turning off automatic driver updates would work. although I don't know what that would have to do with the bottom menu not responding.

We dont have the full specs information of your computer. So you have to check it yourself. Make it sure that your PC is compatible for windows 10.

If it is compatible, then there should not be any problem. But still, let us know the result.

The sticker on the bottom says it's a G570 and I do not see it on the list so I am assuming it is not compatible. although I keep getting windows messages saying to upgrade and that I am compatible

That is the problem with the OEM laptops. Their hardware mostly needs the drivers supplied by the OEM manufacturer to run properly. But windows 10 update finds the minimum hardware requirement. If it is obtained, then it says that your system is compatible for windows 10 upgrade. Now if the OEM does not have drivers, problems start to occur.

Get a way to revert back to windows 7. If you dont have a previous image backup, you may follow this guide within 30 days of upgradation: Windows 10 - Go Back to Previous Windows - Windows 10 Forums
Or keep a windows 7 installation disk in hand/stock. It will be a real good move from your part.
And keep the original windows 7 COA key secured.

Then, perform a clean installation of windows 10. Windows 10 - Clean Install - Windows 10 Forums
As it is already upgraded from a previous qualified version, the device has got the digital entitlement; so activation etc would not be a problem there.
Get the drivers via windows update only. Device Driver Automatic Installation - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

See how the clean installation goes. If it does not work at the expected standard, get back to windows 7.

A clean install does a better job; but the GWX way is needed to get the digital entitlement easily.
