    What's with the annoying pop-up?

Hey guys, hope someone here can help me out with this minor nuisance. Every time I restart windows 10, about 10 to 15 minutes during use, I get a cmd(command prompt) pop up with the word schtasks.exe and then it automatically closes. This can get rather annoying while gaming or watching a movie seeing as it minimizes whatever I am doing and then I have to click the movie or game(regardless if its set to always on top) to make it full screen again. Any ideas why I this is happening? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Sounds like you have a task scheduled to run. Check your Scheduled Tasks and see if you have any entries.

Thanks for the response. I'm still pretty ignorant when it comes to using Windows 10. How do I go about checking my scheduled tasks?

I actually did as you suggested prior to asking. In fact, that was the very first page I checked out. As it turns out, Task Scheduler is missing from Administrator Tools and I am unable to search(I uninstalled Cortana). I have a few features turned off in services. I also removed it from system tools to clean up my startmenu a bit.

I didn't think I would ever need it. I never used it in Windows 7. I was hoping maybe there was a command I could type in the run box to open it up. By the way, prior to removing Windows programs and tweaking the operating system, I was still getting the command popup. So turning off a few services was not the cause. I tweaked Windows 7 even more to my liking(less restrictive then 10) and I never had any problems. I mostly use my system for gaming, so I want it running with as little stuff in the background as possible.

Never mind, I just found it.

Not sure what I'm looking for though. There doesn;t appear to be anything listed aside from an uninstalled registry cleaner program. Not sure why thats there.

At this point, it could be a crapshoot to find what is going on, since it sounds like you've disabled some important parts of the OS.

From Windows 7 on, Microsoft has done a great job of making sure the OS runs lean and efficient on its own. There's no need to tweak like there was before. I don't use Cortana either, but she's simply hidden, not uninstalled.

Your probably right. It's just something I've always done with previous versions of Windows. Although, as stated above, it was giving me the cmd pop-up before I altered/changed anything in Windows. Just out of curiosity, when it does pop-up again, will it show up in task scheduler at the top, under Active Tasks? I have nothing listed in Task Status.

They only programs I installed are Comodo Firewall, Spybot, and Clamwin Virus scanner. I have them setup to only run when I start them.

TaskSchedulerView is a free portable program that will make it much easier to see what tasks run.
Give it a try and see what you think.
Start it with Run as administrator.
