i will have to use the dvd because i dont have a usb flash drive suitable. the dvd is 4.7gb. i dont think i did it right the last time because i remember it was just the disk image of the file that was on the dvd, after the failed boot i right clicked the the disk image and selected burn but it wiped the disk before burning and that was it gone, im currently downloading windows 10 again but this time to my ssd before i move to the disk so i wont have to download it again if anything goes wrong, how to i get it onto the dvd correctly

    Should be straightforward:

Prepare Windows 10 bootable DVD from ISO

Step 1: Insert a blank DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) of your PC.
Step 2: Open File Explorer (Windows Explorer) and navigate to the folder where Windows 10 ISO image file is located.
Step 3: Right-click on the ISO file and then click Burn disc image option. This will open Burn Disk Image or Windows Disc Image Burner dialog.

Step 4: Here, select your DVD/CD drive from the the drop-down box next to Disc burner.

Step 5: Finally, click Burn button to begin creating your bootable Windows 10 DVD.

If you logged in to your Microsoft Account while installing , it will sync your saved settings on the cloud. I usually don't login in until I am done and disable sync right after signing in to Microsoft account. But that's nothing to worry about.

so do you think everything has been erased apart from things linked to my account, the reason i had to clean install because the pc was randomly freezing, it was corrupt files or something i think....now the windows ''c'' drive is called local disk and there is no recovery partition

hey, how is it now? Did you download the updates already?
I forgot to tell you that clean install also comes with the installation of the drivers for your particular hardware. go to the manufacturer's site to get the latest drivers.

havn't been using it much since the ''clean'' install..to be honest it's just kind of frustrating me...a few problems include: the brightness is reversed ie i sometimes have to put the brightness to 0% to get full brightness and when i plug the charger in the brightness goes to 100% as it should but the screen is dark and another problem is shut down is now very slow

have you installed any drivers or updates? if not you may have to do that and see if your issues get fixed.
