The system restore didn't work... as part of the restore/reboot requires a login and then the blank screen is still there...
Just to say that I created another user on the computer and logging into that account has the exact same problem... ie blank screen that i can only resolve by ctrl+alt+del - task manager and explorer.exe and then everything magically appears... not the answer long-term but a work around that lets me post this...
Sadly disaster!
On an effort to get into safe mode this was selected via cpanel I think and computer shut and won't restart - get black screen with monitor settings incorrect - today I bought a new monitor and cable but PC will still not load - downloaded win 10 for usb and this also will not load.... Help anyone?
Managed to get back to where I was..., but still getting this error message when trying a clean install..

Hi... good news and bad news...
Got the Windows 10 burnt to a DVD and reinstalled etc... and all files/programs remain...
BUT
when booting up I have exactly the same problem...
ie.. once logging in to my profile (and I have set up a second profile and the same occurs) I then get a small 'window' bottom left of the screen... "Windows Script Host settings" and a blank screen and the only way I can acess my profile/content is by ctrl+alt+del and then task manager and type in "explorer.exe" - everything then works as normal... including internet and getting access to web pages such as this....
All works ok once getting access... BUT it doesn't seem right and this has happened AFTER getting some malware downloaded.... and removing it...
