Nah, I think it was a legit question about the next release date - the Anniversary edition. There's still a lot of misconceptions out there about Windows 10 and sometimes language gets in the way of communication.

I had a little fun with it since others answered.

At some point I expect the 10 to disappear and it will be just referred to as Windows. That's not based on anything factual or any inside info. It's just a gut feeling I have. The last version of Windows won't have a version number associated with its name. You'll have to run winver to see exactly what build version you have or look on the system page etc. It's basically like that now. If somebody says I'm running Windows 10, the next question is usually what build?

I agree with this picture of Windows future. Its seems to make sense.

Yeah, and that's one thing MS was trying to get away form - asking what version - everyone should be on the same build if WU is left to it's own devices.

Perhaps it will be called Windows without any numeric version.

Or .... they'll go with something new and exciting
    MSOS (Moses)
    TheOS
    WinOS
    VNT (Very New Technology)
    uWin (Universal Windows OS)

Nah, I doubt they'll drop the brand Windows - but who knows, they've re-branded things before

I'm sorry, Dave, but I'm afraid your going to have to upgrade to the Hal 1000. It's OK Dave, It's a free upgrade.

Well I was (mildly) interested about whether the free upgrade to 10 is happening after June or not and what happens after. There has been no news and surprising little discussion of which build we will all be on next month.

It is a valid question I think (although I guess no-one knows).
