I will try this as soon as I can
Edit: essenbe, don't run the short test first?
Sure, go ahead. It only takes a couple of minutes, just be sure to run the long test. The short test is basically just what the drive is self reporting and can pass, even on a bad drive. The long test (which is long) is what will actually test the drive.

Not sure if I'm just missing it, but I'm not seeing a version of SeaTools for DOS for Windows 10...
Looks like this is also to be used with a cd rom and not a usb?

The purpose of Seatools is to test your disc drive, no matter what is on, not to test Windows 10 (I suppose it won't even perform a filesystem check). It is supposed to rule out disc-specific problems.

If you want to boot from a USB key, instructions are given on the link posted by essenbe.

EDIT : You can find Seatools for Windows here, but it's not self-sufficient and would have to be run either from your defective system or you would have to move the disc to test to another system as a secondary disc, and install and run the utility there.

Ah, makes sense. They do mention compatible systems so I guess I got caught up in that haha.

This link - in Option 2 - is telling me to accept and download something in the "SeaTools for DOS | Seagate" link, I'm not seeing an iso download link on that page though

There's a download button near the bottom of the page, but clicking gets me a "Bad Request" error, I suppose something must be dead here. Try this link instead.

    Hi,

    That links works.
TS only needs to click on "Seagate Tools voor DOS" (Dutch for Seagate Tools for DOS) and the download initiates immediately after that.

Haven't followed the entire thread so I assume TS know how to create a bootable DOS USB stick.

    Cheers,

    It says "test result failed".
There was some dialogue box that mentioned repairing stuff, but I don't see that functionality anywhere.

The page is automatically localised depending on your country and language, I see it in french. Anyway, I forced "be-nl" localisation to have the same display as you, and the only place where I see "SeaTools voor DOS" is a link to legacy versions. You should rather click the "Downloaden" button instead, but that gives me a bad request error.
