And another thing that really bugs me is when people blame Microsoft for their hardware not working. It's not Microsoft's responsibility to make the billions of combinations of hundreds of thousands different hardware pieces work together. It is the hardware manufacturer's responsibility to write drivers that work. It's like blaming Ford when your Bridgestone tire blows out because the tire had a bad spot in it.

Totally spot on ... It's amazing that it DOES work 99% of the time with all the various combinations of HW already out there.
I hate dick moves by HW vendors. Logitech did it going from XP to 7, even HP, model equipment bought within a month of launch, to find they were not going to release drivers for supposedly top of the line gear, to force you to re-purchase compatible gear is unsat, plain and simple.

The issue that is bugging me, is the flashing of the screen it does when doing certain things but it doesn't do it all of the time, maybe next release will fix that. The other issue is the updates coming in when you need to turn off or reboot the computer immediately. They make you install the updates during a shutdown or reboot, at least that my experience.

The only issues I have with Win10 are my own - I disagree with some of the implementation.
The Universal Apps are, in my opinion, inferior to Desktop Apps.
I understand the advantage of cross platform, but rather than a one size fits all approach, I choose the best app for that platform. Sure, I lose the common interface and some cross platform functionality - but hey ... who uses 100% of the machine capability anyway
As far as the over 100 machines, old & not-so-old ... AMD & Intel ... BIOS & UEFI, I helped upgrade ...
- None used the GWX, MCT upgrade, or web based Upgrade Now.
- Every machine was backed up,
upgraded with a DVD,
then after activation, each was Clean installed.
- Device drivers were delivered through Windows Update.
Very few devices resulted in Device Mgr Other devices > Unknown device - these were resolved by manually identifying the device from the Details Tab > Hardware Ids Property dropdown pick
Once the HW was identified, it was fairly easy to find a driver on the OEM site.
NoteThe OEM driver was only used when WU did not supply a driver. There were a few drivers that initially failed in WU, but were subsequently resolved by WU - RealTek card reader for example
I believe that many issues are self inflicted, although some are the result of an upgrade.
A Clean install does many things - it gives you a fresh start with everything on the machine.
The registry hasn't been touched by human hands and, if allowed, purchased software is updated, and the free tools many people use are downloaded fresh from the Author's site.
By now most vendors have updated their software - make sure you are using the correct version for your 3rd party applications.
Windows 10 doesn't require the old tricks we used to keep older OSes running smoothly.
There are some new tricks ... built in tools that are very useful.
To be honest, Windows 10 provided a way to break old habits. I changed everything - how it looked, where I launched pgms, how I organize data ...
- None used the GWX, MCT upgrade, or web based Upgrade Now.

There is the Windows fanboys camp on one side proclaiming Wind10 is god send.
There is the Windows haters camp on the other side proclaiming Win 10 is garbage.
Then in the middle are majority of users who are not too computer savvy but did the upgrade anyways for one reason or the other. These are the people who come to Microsoft forums seeking help. These are the people we pay attention to.
We can ignore the "fanboys" and the "haters". They are irrelevant.

I think you'll find, most of those that had issues, did an upgrade install. In most of those cases, after doing a clean install, no such issues. I have no issues with the current consumer build. Last couple of consumer builds have been good for me. I had quit a few issues with some of the early builds though. I'm not currently running an insider build.

A proper maintenance, I could not stress this enough, but not the inbuilt one, that one causes even more problems.
Well that is the problem, 20 years later and Windows still have the same childish problems, like inability open Start, Settings or show system icons, because of settings like HungAppTimeout/WaitToKillAppTimeout, are you kidding me?

I'm not currently having any issues with last released build of Windows 10 (not to say I haven't in the past).
I don't understand those who install Insider builds on their daily driver desktops and expect it to function perfectly. They are known to contain bugs. If you want to test it out, test it in a virtual environment.
