Windows 10 stuck at login screen....

Which lead to satisfying my curiosity. If you are running the monitors through a video card [I have an EVGA GeForce 750ti powering two HDTVs and a Cintiq], reinstall the drivers and everything should work itself out. That was what I mentioned in my post above. Microsoft decided that the OS would override any third-party drivers for peripheral devices on the machine. Once you install, you just have reinstall all of the driver software for those devices. It is another step, and for desktop users it is making it glaringly obvious that Microsoft is not catering to us anymore. If it is not mobile [or have the ability to be mobile], they are not worried about it. Anyway, give that a shot and see if it works for you. Honestly, waiting a month or two would not have solved that problem, I imagine.

I'm having similar issues - I think...
I boot right into the time/date screen and clicking on it brings up my user/password screen. All great so far.
After entering my password about 15 seconds go by and i'm back to the time/date screen again. Never get to a desktop/etc to do a thing.
Two things I have noticed at this point. The first time the date/time screen comes up it looks as I would expect. The subsequent times it comes up it is smaller and at a much lower resolution. I also notice the monitor seems to recycle power during this time. I just notice that by the LEDs for power cycling on/off. Something I never remember seeing with Win7.

My thoughts were the drivers were not correct for my monitor - so I tried to fix that.

I found a video on getting into SAFE mode; and that worked. I think. Desktop is black, start menu wont open, basically nothing. However I was able to get into the Control Panel and the monitor's hardware was flagged as not working. I downloaded and updated the drivers for the monitor. After rebooting - no change in problem. It still boots to the time/date screen, allows me to log in and then 15 sec or so later pops back over to the time/date screen with decreased resolution.

I've not made it back into the hardware settings to check the driver on the monitor again - been down sick.

Thought I would check here to see if anyone had any suggestions. I'm drawing a blank at what to do next.

AC5FF if you can get to safe mode again try running a checkdisc. If you have the installation disc, boot with it, try to repair, then continue to desk top. Good luck.

This may be part of my problem?
I will try the checkdisc tonight when I get home. As for the installation disk - I do not have.
I didn't want to do the install directly, so I downloaded the Win10 ISO file. But that was too large to burn to a DVD!?!? I did a quick look online and couldn't find help with that so I downloaded again but I put on a USB drive.

My system is screwed up. I had a friend (6+ years back) install Linux on my computer with GRUB boot loader. Makes it difficult to do installs like this that require multiple boots. Also, I don't know if the install files that were put on the USB drive is bootable. I can't get my machine to recognize it if it is.

Once I get back into Windows or whatever - I plan on removing the GRUB and all traces of the Linux. I haven't used that in 5+ years now....

I'll update this tonight or tomorrow. See if that CheckDisc helped at all...

I should have added...
First time I got into the safeboot menus it gave the option for repairing the installation. That was my first step - did no good. If I remember correctly it said 'Cannot Repair' or 'Unable to Repair'......

Just thought I would add this to the mix in case anything I do or am helped to do fixes something for someone else.

Good luck with it. If it doesn't work you might have to look at upgrading the graphics. I don't understand why the file was too big for a DVD, I copied an ISO on DVD.

Okay.. Did some further troubleshooting tonight and thought I would post the results in the hope it may lead to someone figuring out my issue...

If it matters: While in SafeMode; it shows I am running Windows build 10240

First; a further explanation on what happens during login.
1. 2 sec after entering password monitor cycles power
2. Screen flashes white for brief second
3. Monitor cycles power and screen goes dark
4. Date/Time screen reappears @ low resolution

I boot into safe mode and launch command prompt; run chkdsk, no problems found/fixed.
Get into advanced troubleshooting menu (SHIFT while clicking Restart)
1. I tried to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement - No Help; same things happen
2. I tried Enable Low Resoultion Video - No Help, same as #1
3. I tried Disable early launch anti malware protection - No Help, Same as #1
4. I tried Disable auto Restart after Failure - No Help, Same as #1

ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro graphics card - no issues noted in Device Manager
Although I updated drivers for my LG E2350 monitor; and they show up under driver details; Device Manager still shows my monitor with the yellow triangle exclamation point.

I reran the Diagnose Startup Problems again. Message back says "Startup could not repair PC" The logfile it created "SRTTRAIL.TXT" appears to be okay; but here is what it told me:

I added "free" Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron 1545 which first had Windows 7 and was on a frozen signin page all day yesterday. Tried all kinds of online help suggestions, to no avail. Finally, turned the laptop off, then pressed and held F12 button while turning it back on. It finally got me off that frozen page to the page I usually go to when first turning the computer on. Went to apps and then settings where I found an option to uninstall Windows 10, which I did immediately. It took about 1/2 hour to run diagnostic and reboot. Hope this helps somebody avoid the loss of a day online.

I had the same problem whole day long

i am using UEFi boot

I pressend ESC key first at first start of my computer

then a startup menu came

then I pressed F11 for system recovery

and my windows 10 start with Keyboard mouse


i am using hp z210

If you have a Wifi Switch on the outside of your laptop, just turn it off, then reboot the laptop and there ya go! You are so welcome!
