Thanks for reporting back. Glad it's now sorted - it's always worth giving your PC a spring clean - dust build up can be a real problem and connections can work loose or deteriorate over time.

Agreed.

The other important thing I've learnt here is to keep a backup image. It's "using a computer 101" but I guess sometimes some of us think we're above the inevitable, I know I did :P

And just for added protection make sure system restore points are frequently taken because this is a really great way to recover from any system related problems.
