    Hi Marron,

I've had this exact same problem. The only thing you can do is either re-install the build you are using and then update via PC Settings, or you could download the ISO for the new build. Which you can find here and then once that has finished downloading, you can follow Brink's tutorial to install it. :)

I would suggest just downloading the new build, as the update system hasn't been working very well for many people. (Including me.)

I doubt this is the only solution. For once, I can just do this, which should really work, but I don't wanna downgrade my taskbar yet.

Try running both PowerShell scripts and the Store Reset exe.
Could you explain what PowerShell scritps I should run (and maybe how) ? And where's the Store Reset exe ?

With nothing else running, open PowerShell as administrator and run the following:

    Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

let it complete then exit and restart Explorer (Task Manager/Explorer-right click/Restart)

    then do the same with:

    Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

After Restarting Explorer again, navigate to C:/Windows/System32/WSReset.exe (if you still can't use Search),
it may run a few commands then the Store should open.

Close the Store and Restart your PC.

The first one seemed to work, but the second didn't. I get this screen:

It's probably because powershell is not in administrator mode. I opened powershell by WinKey + R, and then typed powershell. How can I open it as administrator (from run) ? I can't use the start menu.

    Navigate to:

    C:\Users\{your moniker}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows System

and right click on Windows PowerShell and choose Run as Administrator.

Yeah. I'm still on 9926. I plan to upgrade as soon as I get the start menu to work. Till then I (think I) can't access windows update.
Anyway, even as admin I get the same red lines.

Hmmm..., maybe you have to try sfc /scannow or

    DISM Restore Health or

maybe a clean install is in order!?
