Yesterday I converted my main computer to Win10.
It took all day (I went out during some of the wait time).
Installed 10041 from the Insider website, then updated to 10049.
Thought that my computer had frozen at a black screen - but it was just my external monitor not being recognized.
    I'm working on it now.

Had issues with autologin (still unsure if that's fixed) and with my Quick Access links disappearing from File Explorer.
CCC stopped working (AMD Catalyst Control Center) - fixed it in 10041 and it recurred in 10049
Mirekusoft Install Monitor also messed up with one of it's DLL's, but I'll work on that later.

Haven't tested my BSOD apps yet, that'll be the biggest thing for me.

    Hello.
I know Microsoft does not recommend using windows 10 as the main OS, but I have to change my mainboard and CPU next weekend, and therefor I want to do a clean install. But do I install Windows 8.1again? Or is it safe to take the chance and use Windows 10 as Main OS allthough there are no viruskillers that works (except Windows Defender).
As I understand the news about Windows 10 it is more than 3 month away (and maybe even 6 month).

Anybody here using it as main OS today?
I'm using it as the main OS on one machine and a VM using VMPlayer on another. The system with it as a main OS I had an extra SSD lying around that I formatted and installed the Tech Preview. When Windows 10 is released I will put the Windows 7 SSD back in and upgrade it.

Right now I'm using build 10049 as my primary and it's doing very well. It does hiccup every now and then,, but I like it!!

The trick is to always save your data separately so that you will not have second thoughts about wiping it out for a clean install anytime it had a serious hiccup.

I have Windows on an SSD and all of my data/software to install on a separate HDD. I plan a head if that is needed.

Exactly. We are all just testing it out. So, it's a common sense not to mix your data with a test OS. It can blow up anytime.

I learned lots about disaster recovery when I worked at The Travelers and I keep using those methods.. It's saved me lots of times.

The programs on another drive does not really help with a new install, does it ? Unless those are the installation exes or portable apps.

Yup,, instillation execs. I store them on the HDD and I can quickly install all of the software I use in about 2 hours.. tops.

That's right. Just install the programs with the OS. Installing it on another HD will just slow you down when opening them up.
