    Start Menu not Working

Have a problem with the Start Menu and Notifications not working. Have tried all the solutions I could find (sfc, DISM, safe start, reregistering apps) Is there a fix that works out there? If not is there any fix from Microsoft coming any time soon?

    Working now

Restored from system image backup. Start now works but I've done this before.

For the first time I've run into the start menu suddenly not responding, and the Edge icon disappeared from the taskbar, a few other symptoms.

What prompted this? I was simply moving windows around on the screen, and clicked on some part of a window.. it was all too quick. There was a brief kind of a flicker, and then several things stopped working normally- the start menu, task manager was VERY slow to launch, Classic Shell very slow to launch, but explorer started normally.

I've now seen this twice.. but have absolutely no idea of the precise cause or what was affected. (I didn't spend time looking at event logs at the time- just got my PC back running using an image backup)

At the time I was struggling with the change of language (US-UK) and its effect on searching Settings 'Search results aren't quite ready yet...) - a quite well-known scenario alas.
