    What are these weird black boxes on my display??

    This box randomly showed up on my computer yesterday. At first, it was only on my right monitor, and now it is on both. I was initially able to eliminate the problem by changing a game application from fullscreen to borderless. poof! the box on the right disappeared. I reloaded my computer and it appeared on BOTH monitors!

    I can't figure out if it is a display issue, or maybe an application running in the background that is causing it. Any ideas on how to figure out what the issue is?

    Hi, assuming a process is generating that, you should be able to find out which it is using e.g.
    Winspy (free)
    Download WinSpy++ 1.7

    Drag the target onto the box and details should be shown.

    Which browser are you using?
    Do these only appear when using a browser?

    hmm that was a good suggestion, but the capture actually comes up blank. when i mouse the capture over chrome, it says chrome, steam it says steam, but over that black square it is just blank. I only use chrome. thanks for the suggestion! still not sure what is causing it....

    If that's when this started, can you use a System Restore point prior to that?

    Otherwise, process of elimination. Does it happen after a clean boot? (Google or tutorial if unsure).

    Does it only happen if you run Chrome?
