    Is Filter Manager Crashing my System w/o BSOD or Errors?

    This has happened twice so far, both were the exact same scenario:

    I have a monitor and a TV, so I set the Extended display option so I can work on the monitor, but have Netflix up on the TV. When I'm done working, I'll just turn off the monitor until I come back to it, but I'll still have Netflix on the TV... this is when it crashed both times.

    The TV will go black, the audio will play normally for 5 seconds or so, and then the audio begins to glitch out. At this point, both the monitor and the TV are just black at this point with the audio going nuts. So I do a forced restart and everything is normal.

    I decided to check Event Viewer and I found a strange pattern. Right before both crashes, there's an "Information: File System Filter 'npsvctrig' has successfully loaded" event. What is Filter Manager and is it causing this crash?

    Unfortunately, there was never a BSOD. The only things I can think of that are different since these crashes started is updating graphics drivers and installing a Blu-Ray drive. Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Did you ever find a solution? This problem has been plaguing me for a long time. I have searched far and wide for a solution to no result. I have the exact same problem as you. My screen goes black, audio loops, and I check eventvwr. Right before the Critical power error there is the Filtermanager event.

    If you or anyone else finds a solution please share it, I am desperate for a fix.

    Same thing here pretty much;
    File System Filter 'npsvctrig' (10.0, ‎2015‎-‎10‎-‎30T12:40:23.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.
    then critical kernel-power crash, no bsod or bluescreen, sound and application just freeze in place and need to hold power button to stop. I just upgraded my pc and upgraded windows.. really frustrating. Please help!

    That is word for word my problem. I am desperate for help or a solution, I can't find anything. I have had this problem for a long time and google hasn't helped, heaps of results with no solutions. I even reinstalled windows 10. I suspect it may be a graphics card issue so if you just upgraded your PC you could try and look into the graphics card warranty, and see if it works without the GPU/graphics card.

    Reason I think its related is because its happened more than once, this file system filter log followed by crash (within seconds)

    I know this is an old thread but do you by any chance have SCP Toolkit installed? For my these problems started some time after I installed that program, I thought it was just coincidence but I could be wrong.

    Hello! I have the exact same problem with npsvctrig loading then my notebook just shuts down and yes I have the SCPtoolkit installed. Updating win 10 to 1903 version did not help. Did you manage to find a fix?
