TBH that thing was useful but they maybe removed it to make 8.1 more stable or something or its just a part of the new UI.
Maybe you are missing it's real purpose. Yes, it gives a lame benchmark. But, when I would go to a site to purchase something, ram, cpu, etc. there are so many variables, that I found it invaluable when someone listed their stats. example, an intel i7/i5/i3 cpu can come in many varieties especially when comparing to AMD processors. Or comparing graphic cards, or ram, or even total builds. If you are building a new system, all the information you can get is helpful.
When I buy a car I read reviews and compare it to other cars, who doesn't. So it is the same here.
And everyone with a Windows machine had it, so it was universal, unlike trying to compare to someone else's benchmarks, which you might use or not use, that is what is useless.
having 1700 post doesn't mean anything, its the same as a "show us your desktop" thread, people just post in there to show off.
Imo the wei score pretty useless as new hardware is released about every 6 months, shortly after the release of windows 7 anyone with the latest high-end hardware and a ssd would of maxed the wei score. plus the wei didnt really give you a lot of useful information about your hardware.
@Trust_No1 can you tell me what info did wei provide that would help you purchase any computer hardware.
IMO I feel that a great deal of emphasis is placed on these benchmarks and WEI scores. As the average user I really cannot see a need for this information, now remember that is me. . . Now both my Mac and Lonovo have 36 gigs of memory, an Intel i7 4770 processor, and a SSD along with a 1 gig video card. With all this raw power I just cannot see what a WEI or bench march is going to tell me. . again just me. . .:)
Maybe that's why they want to put away with the desktop too.having 1700 post doesn't mean anything, its the same as a "show us your desktop" thread, people just post in there to show off.
Well, look at 8.1. The desktop has already been downgraded to an application. The way things go the desktops will become mobile devices, LOL.
what could u do on the desktop in windows 7 that you couldn't do on the desktop in windows 8.1? im talking about the desktop not the start screen/menu.
One thing has always puzzled me about the WEI scores, what determines the business graphics performance?
My graphics cards have all gotten significantly higher games ratings than business ratings (~1/3 higher).
