Yes, we can all agree, it was not a deluxe tool.
But;
It was free, it was universal, at the time every Windows 7 machine had it, and most people shopping for a system at their local store or else wise could easily compare scores to their current machines. First, thing I did when shopping my local Best Buy, would be to check the WEI. What is the harm in that? Early on, I had no clue whether to get an AMD or Intel machine. It simply served it's purpose.
I am not defending it against better software, only it's usage.
