Windows 10 screen freezes on a solid color & needs a manual shutdown

    My Computer:
    GPU: GeForce GTX970
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k @ 3.50GHz
    8GB Ram
    Resolution: 1920x1080, 60Hz
Nvidia Driver version 3.62 (this is not the most recent I tried a rollback to 3.62 but it doesn't seem to help)
    OS: Windows 10 Pro

Recently my computer has begun freezing. The screen will suddenly turn to a blank screen of a solid color. The two colors I have experienced so far are blue and orange. Neither shows any text and I don't think the computer actually freezes because no error logs are generated when I reboot and check (with Whocrashed). I think that means its the graphics driver but it has now occurred over the past two driver updates. When the screen changes color the audio does that thing where it makes a repeating sound of whatever was playing when it froze. If i turn the monitor off and back on it will now show a static screen like you would find on a tv.

I built this PC about 6 months ago and it has had no problems until this started occurring about a week or two ago. It has seemed to increase in frequency but that might just be because I didn't think much about it freezing the first couple times since I had no problems then and now I notice it more because it is obviously a recurring problems and not a random crash.

I just signed up to post this so let me know if I am posting in the wrong section. I have searched for this problem through google and have not found anything that matches my exact issue.

Hi sdfbsdifsdbf and welcome to Tenforums.

I recently had a similar issue and found it to be a monitor going bad. It could also be the cable going bad between the monitor and computer. Just thought you might want to check those things. :)

It is definitely not a monitor problem. Had this problem start 2 days ago. Try rollbacking your GPU driver. I rollbacked to 364.47 and it seems to be working fine. Other than that i dont know what could be the problem. I doubt it would be one of the components that is faulty.
I also have the same build as you. Really doubt that a component would get faulty over night and we all know that Nvidia drivers arent the best.
Ill try to keep you updated.
