    I've broken it

I have managed to kill my laptop HP envy 15 to no great stress data wise but I suspect if I return it to factory specs I'll be back in Windows 8.1 land. Does anyone know if I will be able to get ten back FOC or is it going to cost now?

Assuming you had it installed before and activated, you will always be able to install Windows 10 on that computer for free.

Would you please explain to what extent did you "kill" your laptop ?
There may be a chance you don't have to go back to Win 8.1.
Maybe you can savage the damage by doing a Win 10 Repair Install or Clean Install.

Moreover, since you have Win 10 installed and activated, you are digital entitled.
You can reinstall Win 10 any time you want, as often as you want, provided it is done in this computer.
It won't cost you a dime.
