Night Hawk thanks for the informative reply

I suspect you haven't been using the Start menu much and why this is only now being found.= This is True

Before I do a Clean Install I'm going to do some Test with other New Accounts
    Rick

I am not shocked but still a little surprised that the SFC didn't find anything at all. Generally something is missing from an upgrade to 10 rather from a clean install unless something goes wrong during the install which is generally noticed right afterwards.

Here I went a bit further not only on both desktops but for one of the VMs seeing the Stardock alternative Start10 put to used since I prefer the new style but without the Metro tiles section! Even when resized to the smallest size the tiles don't work here. In fact the taskbar on the main is on the side not top or default bottom where Quick Launch type tool bars and pinned items look a lot like a start menu! :)

No response if I Right click (Windows Icon on the Taskbar)-stardock-start10-configuration-options.jpg

For how that came out with the taskbar on the side...

All that however depends on having the Start menu in working order which you don't have presently. The option in the blog posted earlier uses the same command that some have posted on other threads for people having similar problems. As far as removing AVG as well as any other software in fact that won't help any since this is a 10 installer related problem to begin with.

Night Hawk I really appreciate you looking into this problem .

I'm on a test account and doing things 1 at a time to see where the problem may be .
Will keep everyone informed when I find something.

I'm sure you have a novel about how you came to that conclusion. Care to share just the condensed version on how you came to that?

Look around at the number of threads here at 10F to find out how many have been running into this type of problem as far as not being able to open things or even open up the Start menu following an upgrade install to 10! On some occasions the Start button will be invisible. Plus having seen enough buggy upgrade installs here where no av or other software was even present that would seem to rule out AVG! as well as any number of other programs!

When you do look you should also note that the majority of these incidents are seen with the builds prior to the TH2 update when upgrading from a previous version while a flaky clean install with any OS can appear at times but usually far less frequently. Bad media like a bad incomplete burn to disk, shaky write to a flash drive, or even brand of blank media, flash drive, or bad disk if not bad flash drive can be a factor.

Many a disk in the past went flying like Frisbee! Now we will be tossing flash drives instead!

So the answer was no I guess.

My suggestion for uninstalling programs was based on his own admission that it was working until they were installed.

I'm not going to go out fishing for something you claim is out there anyway. Post some data, that would go a long way in backing up your claims from now on.

It appears that the program"Memeo Premium" which is/was 1 of my backup programs maybe the culprit , because when I activated "Memeo Premium" The "Right Click Stopped Working when I click on the Start Button and after I uninstalled "Memeo Premium" The Right click on the Start Button works again that is if I Right click (Windows Icon on the Taskbar) the list of items opens , and for example if I click on Programs and Features it Does open the Control Panel .

I can live without "Memeo Premium" As I have other back up programs and do a lot of manual backup

Thanks once again Everyone for all you help

I saw that in your list, not knowing anything about it though, I just suggested the ones I know have questionable pasts.

At least you figured it out, nice work! :)
