    Operating system not found

I have Sony Vaio I7, 8Gb memory. I do not have OS backup disk. I upgraded from 8 to 8.1 and then to 10. It has been running great. No problems. Use Kaspersky Internet Security. I shut down computer normally this morning. I powered back on this evening and there was a frown face saying something happened to computer and it would restart and had a percent complete number. I waited and waited and it never went above 0%. I performed a cold boot and shut down and then turned back on. The Vaio logo showed briefly and then blue screen saying no operating system found. Any ideas are appreciated.

You are going to have to make a bootable USB or DVD to boot the computer from. I recommend Kyhi's recovery disk because it has a few programs on it we can use to troubleshoot.

I appreciate the information. Other than Apple products, the only other system I have is a Vista 64 bit I haven't turned on in years. Will I be able to make a DVD from this old computer?

I downloaded windows 10 21h1 19043 iso 32-bit. old laptop with no efi or uefi, only bios.
i made the sha256 checksum to the downloaded iso and was correct.

i made the usb first with ntfs format and then with fat32 and no luck with booting windows 10 21h1 usb iso install

the message: operating system not found!
the bios everything is correct, past time i installed the previous version windows 10 from 2020.

to make sure of all i formated fat32 the usb and make the usb iso with min 19.3 and worked, the mint install appear.

im not sure what is the problem if the sha256 checksum numbers returns that the iso is good. any idea?
and, what a blue balloon with letter "i" means? was the previous iso download "error" i downloaded again with good checksum return but not luck with the windows 10 21h1 19043 usb iso install.

I've had no problem using the Microsoft MCT/Media Creation Tool process to create/write the Bootable USB drive [8GB, 16GB or 32GB]. It reformats the drive losing anything on it and formats as FAT32 [which is what the drives come as from the factory].

im using mint, previously i made an windows 10 iso usb installer with the integrated (right button for it) option with no problem. the iso seems good by the sha256 checksum. after the fail i made an mint iso usb install and worked.
appears to be is the iso but the checksun sha256 responds like is a good 1 to 1 iso file.
    perhaps other one knows.

in other words, the working normal isos
windows 20h1 or 20h2 usb iso from mint worked (sha256 checksum correct).
linux mint usb iso (sha256 checksum correct).

windows 21h1 usb iso (sha256 checksum correct) doesn't boot
    no operating system found!

When I make a Bootable USB Thumb drive from within Linux and its USB Image Writer it formats the Thumb drive as ext4, Windows can't use it. I use the Writer app and point to the downloaded Linux .iso file as the Source and the USB drive as the destination, just did a Ubuntu 21 this morning and it also supports UEFI.
