Members come to Designer Media forums to find or provide assistance.
There are many places to find help and a good place for a novice to start is with the manufacturer (Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)).
There are also many good forums and Designer Media forums are, in my opinion, some of the best.
The tutorial section is well organized and the content provides concise instructions.

The information Taffy078 shared was fairly straight forward and both solutions offered are covered in the Tenforums tutorial section.
DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Windows 10 Forums
    Store - Re-register in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Note: If the tutorial doesn't seem to fit the problem, or it didn't solve the problem ... look at the list of Related Tutorials at the bottom of the first post (the actual tutorial)

Taffy078, hang around long enough and you too will be an expert in very little time.

Thank you for a very helpful reply, Slartybart. I've been using these forums for a long time (although I had to change my name because of MS account problems. There, I had to change to Taffy087 for the same reason so I've no idea when I first joined.)

This was one of the first places that I came to when the January Updates screwed-up my new Win10 PC and to be honest I was overwhelmed by how many there are. I tried some of the workarounds/fixes but, as was my experience with MS Forum fixes, none worked for long, if at all. Something that Kosh, a respected Insider there said stuck in my mind. It was along the lines that there are very many contributing factors to the problems including which version/build, the particular PC, the software that was preinstalled etc, etc. And what then became obvious to me was I didn't find many workarounds posted there that had actually asked for such information. (I daren't look here to check if such info is ever sought here by those trying to help.)

I created this thread to try to help ordinary users like me who have a NEW / OEM pc (within the warranty as helpfully pointed out just now). I know two people who've tried it and it's worked for them too - until the next WU of course as that still bothers me.

The first reply was polite, courteous and asked a pertinent question, but the second was curt, dismissive and sneering down at me. I still feel he couldn't have read what I said, nor the blasted title.

Will I stop coming here? Of course not - you've been so helpful to me in that past that I won't let one person put me off. But will I ever post a solution again? Probably not because I'm not a techie and have nothing to offer. Thanks for a nice reply - much appreciated.

You're welcome. Yeah, the tricky part is Where do I start when troubleshooting an issue. Once you get past that, the solution is easy

You don't have to be a techie to post and as I mentioned, many novices become knowledgeable members after a short while. The whole place works on member feedback ... the tutorials make it simple. If you read a thread and think that a tutorial will help, please don't hesitate to suggest it as a solution - just replying to a member helps.

    See ya around

And thanks for doing that - you didn't have to, but it's appreciated! There are lots of users out there who really have no idea, and I'm sure your solution will help them to resolve problems in the future.

I have to agree; dencal's response was completely unnecessary, or, at least could have been worded better. Sorry about that.

I certainly hope that, if you find a solution to something, you will indeed post it here in the future. Everyone's input helps and yours is just as needed as the next person's.

PS As an expert you will obviously be comfortable with a 'clean install' but with respect how many typical users will have heard of a clean install, that it's the first thing you should do when you buy a PC off the shelf. Not many I guess.
The readers here are mostly aware of it, and there are some beyond-excellent tutorials to walk you through it. It's actually a very simple process. OEM systems have the "restore" options that somewhat accomplish the same thing, except that they bring along the pre-installed crapware.
