    Gripes section? problem solving?

    Hi

Not sure where to put this.. after 2 years I got around to fixing my lenovo 575 laptop and fitted a new keyboard earlier this month and also did a restore to factory default which went swimmingly, I thought why not give win10 preview a go and that too went smoothly and overall was impressed with what I was seeing, then I read about roll back and thought give that a go to see if any problems occur.

They did.. now my recovery partition is no more and have tried with partition wizzard which went a bit over my head and my win 7 system would not install programmes like skype as files are missing.

My win7 came preloaded with the laptop and when i used a product key finder it came up with ** REMOVED ** which windows software recovery refused to accept and which is entirely different to the number on the bottom of my laptop which was also rejected.

My dilemma is this... do I buy a fresh copy of win7 knowing that support ends in 5 years or so and my product will not be supported? there are "cheap" win7 home editions on amazon that have product keys but will they be accepted on a computer loaded this year? was surprised to be told that my product key was blacklisted by the microsoft rep and it seems lenovo do this with mass produced machines..

upgrading back to 10 was easy, but still cannot install skype due to missing files.. its not important as this is a "play" computer... I never backed my system up before upgrading as I THOUGHT i had recovery disks which I have but CANNOT find them for love nor money and have turned the house upside down and no avail.. so class them as MIA.

I would be grateful for any tips.. am thinking just wait until the win10 is out properly and have it installed on here but am wondering if I would still be left with the missing files?

    Cheers.

First off do not post your key online. You could try calling MS.

Wow, totally missed that! Good eye!
Although, nobody could use it while he/she is using it but good catch nevertheless! :)

I f you Think you really need that copy of Win 7 then buy it. You are looking at five more years of support, and in all reality that is a good piece of time. . .I would. . .:)

    Hi and welcome to TenForums,
No telling when a oem = full install of win-10 will be available they usually wait a bit and only give the free upgrades at first,

Microsoft is more focused at upgrading prior os's 7-8-8.1 ers

I would expect oem's to be released somewhere near the end of the year ?

    Cheers peeps..

I only typed the win product key as the man from microsoft said it was already out there on the internet which it is LOL..

I am going to take the leap and BUY the one from microsoft off amazon.. can mess about trying this and that and the other for that matter but end of the day I will need to either tear this house down brick by brick untill I find my existing recovery disks or save the labour and fork out 70 quid for a proper win 7 version ... or half the price on fleabay. :)

Win 10 though so far has a big thumbs up but thats maybe because my win7 on here was well dodgy anyway

If its just a "play" computer, why not just continue with Windows 10 as updated versions are coming every month?

Try contacting Lenovo. They may be able to send you a recovery disk for a minimum fee.
I don't understand why some people take MS' warning about upgrading to Win 10 for granted.

I hear ya the upgrade offer is worth what you spend Nothing,
The terms are clear you have No recourse for losses when you paid nothing for it

wait for the oem to be released if you like and want 10

Play with a free Linux in the mean time
