Maybe I should turn the thing on to get the updates. Have not turned it on in weeks, LOL. But then I don't know whether I want updates to scramble my nice setup.

does your phone has Backup feature under settings? You can backup you settings and apps online. You can restore all your apps and settings anytime even when you are changing phones.

I just backed up early this afternoon in prep for 10. :)

Same! I have no clue when or if mine will be eligible for Windows 10. I haven't even got the Denim update yet!
Really impressed with HEREMaps and Cortana replying to my texts for me though!
Just been looking at the North America Denim availability and it seems to be even worse than the UK...
Availability in North America - Microsoft - Global

Updates are the number one thing Microsoft really need to sort out with Windows Phone, because it's a really bad setup as it is. And it certainly shouldn't be possible for carriers to delay or block updates like they have. IMO Updates should roll out the same way they do with Windows OS, I.E. All devices get the same updates at the same time. Because as it is, all it does is annoy and frustrate people on a massive scale, which is a shame because apart from that people who use Windows Phone really like it.

It doesn't give a particularly good impression of Windows Phone when people are being bombarded with Microsoft's Cortana adverts everywhere, but when people buy a phone, not only do some of them find Cortana isn't pre-installed, but when they try to get the Denim update (to officially get Cortana in their country) they can't even install Denim because it's not actually available for their device yet. To make it worse, they also receive marketing emails saying "Lumia Denim software update. Get the best Lumia smartphone experience yet. The Lumia Denim software update is available across the entire range of Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1". I think that'd be enough to try even Ned Flanders patience.

I've just checked mine and it's Denim, it must of come like that or it was the update it did when I first turned it on.

Ok, I confess that I have been a Blackberry nut for a while now. The BB Curve 8330, BB-9810, now the BB-Z10.

They are coming out with the Z50 in the summer of 2015. Impressive specs..

But it is a 5.2 screen. I am so used to my 4+1/4 screen. I am in housing construction. I carry my cell-phone on a belt-clip pouch, horizontily all the time. Imagine a 5.2 screen there.... It would get in the way. and get beaten up.

Both my sons are using Samsungs withe Andriod-OS on them. I told them how frustrated I was the Blackberry have no decent cell-phone to my liking in 2015. They of course mentioned their cell-phones. Seeing I like PCLinuxOS, and it being a Linux OS, and so is Andriod-OS.

BUT... since I've been testing this Windows-10-9926.... and reading how it will be the same across ALL devices... it's got me thinking. Just maybe my next smart-phone should be a phone with Window-10 on it...

Yeah, the 930's are now on Denim. You can see UK Denim availability at the bottom here:
Availability in Europe - Microsoft - Global

Not sure what network you're on, but the Denim update was made available for the 930 Country Variant a couple of weeks ago. EE was just over a week ago. O2 was this week, but I think the 'Hey Cortana' feature wasn't working properly initially. Not sure about Vodafone.

If you got it direct from Microsoft for sure it will come with the latest hardware and software updates. And plus the fact that Denim is already released in your region. :)

I've been preparing for the worse.
I installed the Lumia Software Recovery Tool on my PC in case the Win 10 Tech Preview for phone bricked my 1520.

Here's where to get it from:
Nokia Lumia 1520 - How can I recover/reset/restore my phone software?

Be reminded that you need to backup your phone settings and apps before doing this so you can pick-up exactly where you left off.

Here's how to backup your Lumia smartphone:

Better be prepared than sorry. :)
