With Classic Shell, you don't really remove the native start menu. You can go back to it anytime with the included shortcut.
    Likewise with 'StartIsBack':

In the end of the day everyone is allowed to have an opinion but when things are stated as facts they should be rooted in facts and not half truths. IMO, the author of the article(blog) in the OP is clearly just stirring the pot to get attention to his web site and he's not interested in providing an honest and fair review of Win10.

    Jeff
Jeff, I don't think that website belongs to the OP. And that's all I'll say, because all kinds of opinions about who could arise. :)
I don't think I said it did, I said that the article appears in the OP and it doesn't belong to the OP. See the difference??

Umm, "in the OP" threw me off. I'm not going to "correct" anyone's English, but I would have said, "in the OP's post". If I had seen that, I wouldn't have been thrown off. Ummm, did I just correct someone's English????

Seriously, though, Jeff, I didn't mean to put words in your paws.

This gentleman has been reviewing a multitude of Operating Systems for Years.
Mr. Dedoimedo - His Email address is: www.dedoimedo.com.
The article in his column is called "Windows 10 preview build 9926 -
    awesome and horrible".

It might behoove the gentlemen at the Holy Grail to read this article.
They might get a different perspective than what prevails at Microsoft.
He has some interesting reviews of all kinds of subjects. Definitely worth reading - not only for the IT sections.

Yep start8 or classic shell will fill the ticket,
It's a pity Microsoft makes people do it though instead of taking note to people wants natively.

First off were talking about a review on an OS and facts sure do help support someones argument, don't it??
And how does the length of a blog make the blog anymore accurate?? For me at least it doesn't. Anyone can ramble on about anything and that doesn't make it accurate.
    Are you serious?

Give me a detailed review of "War and Peace" in a 10 word sentence.

Facts are where it's at and the article/blog in the OP didn't have them correct.
    Really?

    From the blog:
The new build is available in Windows Update, so you can just download it. The procedure will take a bit of time and a couple of reboots. Roughly an hour to two hours later, you will be running the new version.
    True.

This is one of the first things you may notice when powering up the menu. No more classic search box. You get that other search box, but that's something else entirely, as I'm going to show you in a few moments.
    False.

It took at least 5 seconds (if not longer) to respond though (I initially thought that it was broken).

Of course, you can expand the menu if you want, yippie!
    True.
    Only two sizes though.

In order to use Cortana, you must sign in with a Microsoft account. This is a wickedly clever arrangement by Microsoft. They are trying to entice you to start using an online account on your desktop.
    True.

I'm using a Local Account and Cortana doesn't work, despite changing Language, Region and Time Zone to US.

This is one of the first big problems I encountered. You cannot browse your network shares easily anymore. You will get a stupid, pointless, unnecessary error message that says:
    True.

Other than that, the new Explorer is relatively cool, and you can pin/unpin locations into your favorites very easily. The quick access view is also quite handy overall.
    True (subjective).

But it won't run! Microsoft has blacklisted this program for Windows 10, and even if you change its compatibility settings, it still won't run.
    True.
I don't know if it is still "blacklisted", but it wouldn't install in my VM.

There's been a lot of praise for the latest spin of Metro apps and the Store, and how things are getting better, more refined, more useful. Perhaps this is the case, but the modern apps are still inferior to their desktop counterparts. A good example is Skype.
    Unknown.
I don't use Skype, but I have seen complaints about the App.

Another highlight of this release is the Xbox application. You may treat is as the extended media center thingie to what used to be the Windows media center in olden releases, and probably comparable to Steam Big Picture. Anyhow, I launched the application, and then was promptly told I had to sign in for an Xbox account to be able to use it. Not a problem, except I managed to make the online portal hiccup. Twice. And so I was unable to test the software.
    Unknown.
    I don't use XBOX.

Why this big clash of opinions regarding other people's reviews. We all have the TP and can draw our own conclusions. I am sure that my conclusions are not the same as your conclusions and the same goes for those reviewers. We all have our biases and preferences.

You are trying to install Version 4.1.0 which does not support Win 10. You need to download and install Classic Shell Beta Version 4.2.0 to make it work.

Here's how it works on mine:

You can still switch to the native 9926 Start Menu within the Classic Shell start menu.
