    win 10 build 9879

SFC wont run from boot command prompt, says ....

SFC wont run from boot command prompt, says there are other pending actions and needs to reboot. Rebooting does no good.

in other win OS this command, dism.exe /image:c:\/cleanup-image /revertpendingactions would fix this issue.

Edit: I just found the Dism command on the SFC tutorial and am running it now. It crapped out saying source files not found. going to the MS website.....

On my machine it says it can't find the image..... Is there a win 10 version of this command that works?

    running build 9879

Thanks for any and all help.

Don`t even bother running sfc, it will tell you windows has found corrupt files but can`t repair them.

You will not get a clean sfc in Windows 10

    Why aren`t you running 9926 ?

Hello HemiRick, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Are you able to do a clean install to start fresh?

Why fix an old preview release?
    One with malware.

Rick, don't get me wrong, if you want to try and fix 9879 - knock yourself out - that's all part of learning the new Windows.

but ..... 9926 is much further along that 9879 (not without it's own bugs) and , IMO, closer to what Win10 will look like coming out of the box. MS will be adding stuff all along the way, so things will definitely change. Bld 9926 is more of a base for Win10 than 9879 which had Win8 as it's base.

A clean install fixes both issues - malware and testing old bld code.

    Your call,

    Bill

I agree Bill, there`s no reason to keep that build if you`re just gonna upgrade anyway.

Preview builds will come out about once a month ... no sense banging your head against a wall when the system gets updated that regularly. Barely enough time to run through a test suite - that's MS job.

It sounds as though HemiRick just wants to know more about fixing Win10 when it breaks. Setting up a test (a broken / infected system is just as hard as fixing one).

Good luck, HemiRick - if it becomes too much to fix - do the clean install.

    edit:
    Info: Win32/Bedep

How to remove Vosteran.com Search (Removal Guide)
This guide might not fit exactly (bedep), but it should be of some use in disinfecting your machine. Read though it and ask any questions - the utilities are what important, not the name of the malware. Some malware might take more scanners to cleanse.

Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

    Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012

To resolve this problem, use the inbox Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. Then, install the Windows update or service pack again.1.Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search. Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

2.Type the following command, and then press Enter.
It may take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Important When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions. However, if your Windows Update client is already broken, use a running Windows installation as the repair source, or use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or from a removable media, such as the Windows DVD, as the source of the files. To do this, run the following command instead:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\RepairSource\Windows /LimitAccess

Note Replace the C:\RepairSource\Windows placeholder with the location of your repair source. For more information about using the DISM tool to repair Windows, reference Repair a Windows Image

3.Close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.
DISM creates a log file (%windir%/Logs/CBS/CBS.log) that captures any issues that the tool found or fixed. %windir% is the folder in which Windows is installed. For example, the %windir% folder is C:\Windows.
