This works for me against the install iso on win10's.. its version specific.. this is insider with the :1 (win10pro) prob same on enterprise...
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:G:\sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

fwiw, insider install.wim contains 2 versions, win10pro, and plain win10

    When I run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:H:\Sources with H: being a DVD drive with a 9879 image. The sources folder on H has a image.wim file.

BUT it says the source files cannot be found.....Any ideas?

EDIT: trying the above version w H instead of G AND it WORKED !!! thanks

But it still WONT let me run SFC, stills says pending system repair needs reboot.

    Try mikiep's suggestion

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:H:\sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

If that fails too, I think you should consider the 9926 build ... 99xx is due out soon and if you keep trying to get 9879 working, it will put you two releases back.

    I did try mikiep's suggestion
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:H:\sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

It worked.... But did NOT solve the initial problem of SFC refusing to run. I wish I could upgrade this malware is preventing me from doing so.

    Try this, I just did.
Restart computer while holding down SHIFT.
An Option Screen appears, click on Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow.
You will then be informed that you must close down the computer for it to take effect.
As I do not have any problems on my computer I cannot vouch for whether it is effective at cleaning up.

Right exactly my problem from a fresh boot command prompt SFC will not run says it must reboot to apply system update but rebooting does not help.

On another machine (friend's or the Library) download 9926 (or if there is a later build) from the Insider page.
    Burn it to disc (DVD-R)

Then follow the clean install tutorial Brink provided in an earlier post.

Basically, you'll boot from the Win10 disc you made, and clean (not clean all) your drive. That will eradicate the malware.
    Clean takes seconds / minutes
Clean All takes hours and is rarely needed unless you're preparing a machine for sale.

It should all be in the tutorial - read through it and ask questions.

I'm making one big assumption here, that you can wipe the entire drive.
If that's not the case, have you run through the malware guide in post# 10 ?
As I said in that post - don't worry about the malware name used by the guide - the utilities are what's important and that is a fairly standard list. How to remove Vosteran.com Search (Removal Guide)

It would be better and faster to wipe the drive if you can.

    Now, I'm confused.

Your best bet is a clean install. I'm out of ideas and I'm not helping you solve the issue.

Post Windows\logs\cbs.log and I'll compare yours to mine. But.... SFC never ran well on Win10.

Decided to run SFC on my machine.
    Is this what you see?

SFC wont run from boot command prompt, says ....-y.png

    Attachment 11879

That's interesting - the format is completely different.

    Try this just for kicks
    go to update.microsoft.com
    accept the control offered
    run Windows update

I'm not sure I understand the issue.

    There's malware on your machine
you can't run SFC because of an update pending
you can't or won't do a clean install.

I'm sure I'm missing a key piece of information - I'll read the thread again.

Please let me know if you ran the malware scanners, and post the CBS.log. I feel as though I'm running you around in circles.

update.microsoft.com just opens the windows update dialouge box in win 10 and I have no important updates. just 1 optional. It for HD audio. I can't copy and paste a screenshot of the window command shell box because SFC does run inside windows. Nothing to see there. But when I run it from a fresh boot command prompt it gives the error message in my 1st post. Saying it needs to reboot to do a system update. but there is no update and rebooting does not make the message go away.....This machine was backed up 2 months ago but I want to give a good go at fixing this before I goto that backup....The malware infection is minor except for it wont let me upgrade the OS.....Spybot search and destroy and adwarecleaner both and work fine ATM, run but dont see the malware. not in defs. Malwarebytes cannot get updates. It one of 2 known programs that detect and remove this debep ATM, win defender wont run either.

I'm confused by the update statement.
    Will you post the CBS.log?
Did you run the malware guide I posted?
Spybot was good at one time - not any longer, IMO.
    same goes for AdwareCleaner.
uninstall both - run the malware guide .....

try: Kaspersky TDSSKiller: Detect / Repair TDSS Rookits - Windows 7 Help Forums

Listen ... Win10 is a preview release. I've tried to help the best I can, but I don't see any progress. So I'm calling it quits.

Best of luck finding a solution,

    Bill
