Left Click & double tap not working in windows 10!

Hello, I use a HP laptop & since the last few days I am not able to open any files or click on something since the left (main) key & double tap on the mouse pad are not working! Although I am able to move the cursor/pointer over the touch pad & the right click is working fine as well! I searched the entire internet & nothing seem to work! Could anyone help me please ? The last thing I remember doing that might have caused this problem (earlier everything was working fine but sometimes touchpad used to get stuck) is hitting the fn+f5 button that I read in this thread Touchpad not working for windows 10. - Page 3 - Windows 10 Forums Thanks!

Hi, can you check you don't have Clicklock on? (see Control Panel, Mouse). How does a wired mouse behave?

Look in Device Manager and check when your touchpad driver was last updated. Check it's not the date your problem started.

.. it's the Events tab you need- sorry, should have said..

Ok, so it's a touchpad issue. That's useful clarification.

Check the Synaptics 'Device Settings' tab, Tapping, and check Tapping is enabled. (Or equiv)
Also check it's enabled (which presumably it is) - just noting your hotkey above.

(Mine shows disabled if I use the function key to disable it- surprise..:))

Thanks, attaching the SS. Not able to find the Tapping tab though! Although everything important is enabled here. Left Click & double tap not working in windows 10!-screenshot-3-.pngLeft Click & double tap not working in windows 10!-screenshot-4-.png

Touchpads have always been a problem. I use a Logitech Trackball now for my laptop. Helps for not getting finger cramps.

Actually it is better for you. Carpal Tunnel and joint problems come with using a touchpad all of the time.

The GUI does vary. No idea why.
Note you've had a touchpad driver update very recently. You could try rolling it back. Disconnect your internet to prevent update while trying it.

Humans should be re-engineered to be able to use touchpads.

(Memories of androids extending digits with compatible interfaces).
I once tried a program that moved the cursor following head movement. Stupid idea... (trying it, + the software).

Incorrect. Touchpads have always been the worst thing ever designed. Not only bad for your hand, arm, wrist and shoulder. Also never work half of the time.

I use a wrist rest that sits on the arm of my couch and use the trackball a lot better then I could with a mouse.

I had to chabge, because I have shoulder issues.
