Only "pin to start" (as a tile) and not "pin to start menu"?

Jeff, that pins them to the right hand side, not the left like the OP wants.

Yes, pin to start list is there when you choose an icon to pin.

Edwin has the answer. Good job Edwin :)

I knew someone would come up with the answer.

Press and hold 'Shift' while right clicking, it should give you the options to 'Pin to Start', 'Pin to Start List' and 'Pin to Taskbar' for most items.
Can't do it on the 'Continuum' UI though!
And "pin to start list" is still there in the latest build?
    Yup.

Thanks for all your answers. I think it's time I try the preview for myself. Joining the insider program required way less steps than I had imagined. Downloading ISO now.

Just finished installing a VM. Holding shift + left click (or right click) does not give me the "pin to start list" option, only "pin to start". I see it if I do it on something in windows explorer e.g. "This PC" on the desktop, but even if I choose pin to start list it does not show up there. Are y'all certain you're running the latest build? I'm on 9926.

    I can't upload a snip for some reason so I can't illustrate.

You can't do it on the Default 'Continuum' Menu, (or what is currently being referred to as the 'Expandable' Menu); you'll need to use Shawn's tweak to enable all three Menu Interfaces:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...text-menu.html

then try it on the 'Resizable Menu' UI, then went you return to the Default Menu UI, it should be there.

(It might not work properly for every item, but then again, there's a lot of stuff that's not working properly in this Build!)

There is no left hand pane in the default start menu, is there ?

I forget, I changed it as soon as I installed, I hate the start screen the start menu does everything it can do.

    Yes I`m running 9926

Do you know how to upload a snip ? What exactly is the issue with that ?

Well, it is somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I have not figured it out yet why it works with certain shortcuts and with others it does not. Guess that's just why it is called a TP

As I said in the first post I'm used to the start screen so the tweak with bat files and registry change is not worth the effort. It's not a dealbreaker.

Not sure why I can't upload a snip, might be my js settings in Firefox.

If this is the start menu they'll go for I think I'll stick to the start screen even on my desktop.

What icon can`t you get pinned to the start list ?

Try IE or Chrome to upload snips, no issues there.
