Because a charms bar is useless, why do you need it.
because i like it and use it frequently. if something is useless it is the VERY VERY OLD startmenu, which right now i no longer use.

I was wondering if they meant the good old Quick Access toolbar.
Can that still be activated in W10?
    Yeah, it's still there.

I meant the XP-style toolbar on the Taskbar. :)

    Yeah, it's still around too.
It resides in C:\Users\{yourmoniker}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
It's got the 3 default shortcuts in it: 'IE', 'Show Desktop' and the old 'Flip 3D', which doesn't work! From there you add your own shortcuts then launch it as a 'New Toolbar' from the taskbar right click menu.

    Thanks Edwin. :)

It's in the same location in W10 as it is in W7.

I don't. I haven't used it in a long, long time. Welllll, maybe not useless, but it surely is redundant.

Are you talking about QuickLaunch, Lehnerus? If so, then it's a resounding yes! I already have it on both of my laptops using Windows 10.

Hint: When you want to pin apps to QuickLaunch, in the Metro interface, right click on the app and then Open File Location. If you have a suite of apps like Office, all of them will be listed and you can pin them to QL. Of course, you can always use File Explorer and look for them that way too.

The Store Apps and 'Default by Install' apps that don't reside in a directory, you have to dig out of the 'shell:appsfolder' though.

    My bad.
    I meant "Quick Launch".

I'm happy with the "Pin to Taskbar" option, but I know some people prefer "Quick Launch".
How do you activate it in W10?
