Windows 10 "Fast Start" prevents full shutdown

Has anyone had a problem with a computer that will not shut down completely after Windows 10 update? I have one and discovered that if I turn off the fast start option it will shut down all the way.

Curious if anyone experienced this and if there is a solution other than disabling fast start.

    Thanks!

Fast startup puts the PC in a hybrid sleep mode instead of a full shut down. That's how it speeds up the next startup. It also makes it tricky to access your BIOS on startup on some PC's. I run SSD's in all my PC's and just disable it. It's of no real advantage to me as far as boot up times go. As always YMMV.

I have experienced difficulty entering BIOS on a couple of machines - now I know why. Thanks for the tip! I'll just leave fast start disabled on the computer that won't shut off fully.

    Thanks!

Press and hold 'Shift' and click 'Restart', on the blue screen, choose 'Turn off your PC'

If you press Shift + Restart then select Troubleshoot / Advanced Options you should see an option to change UEFI options. Select restart and you should boot to the BIOS screen.
