There are so many, often random, weird things that happen with 10 that I am reverting - for the second time - to 7.

Ten has been a nightmare: since installing it (twice) and also on a brand new Spectre laptop I have spent quite literally hours every day trying to make it do what it's supposed to do.

Programs disappear from the program folder: the All Programs list shows the folder as empty, "properties" says its got zero bytes yet uninstall says it can be done - but nothing happens if you try to. A second attempt says I must wait until the uninstall finishes - and then locks the computer so firmly that I have to pull the power to get it to reboot!

Each time I boot the sequence is different, and sometimes the numlock is activated sometimes not.

Updates on the laptop have disrupted my internet: the latest one gets to run for hours then says it failed and tries again: this has been going on for a week, the internet slows to nothing because of it and it's used at least 30Gb.

The very worst part is the update policy: Microsoft have taken away your control over it and you have no idea what is downloading. Not acceptable even for those with fast internet, but a total disaster for millions with only 1.5MBs.

If using wifi, set your pc as a metered connection.

I'm not using WiFi - but it wouldn't make any difference if I was. In any case your suggestion, which I had considered, doesn't alter the fact that it is a dreadful system. I wouldn't have any confidence that a setting would stay the same after my W10 experiences.
