Hello Terry r Horton Welcome to the Ten Forums!

By default until you decided to right click on the Taskbar itself and change it's position from the bottom to either the top or the left or right side of the screen you will find the Start button for the new Start menu at the bottom left corner. Once you click to open that up if the new File Explorer(previously Windows Explorer) isn't already pinned on the Taskbar by Toshiba you can scroll down the Start menu into the AllApps section at the bottom of the menu itself unlike what you saw with Windows 7's Start menu and All Programs option near the top under the list of thumbnails. The screenshot included below will be with the Stardock Start menu 10 app while the layout lacking the tile section is still the same with the Modern option selected.

I used the yellow to bring that out a bit so you can see where you have to scroll down being the new Windows System item now seen on the Start menu 10 has where previously it would have been Windows Explorer found in the Accessories or Windows Accessorie depending on the version of Windows. You should see the option to pin to the main taskbar as well as the Start menu as a new tile. Here it was already pinned explaining why that option isn't seen in the right click menu list.

Once pin it to either or both you will alway be able to find it and once you open a new Explorer window you can go into the Folder options and set where each new window will open to automatically either being the default Quick Access or This PC which opens up to the main C drive. How to Open File Explorer to 'This PC' or 'Quick access' by Default in Windows 10

If you don't wish to see a volume of clutter under the Quick Access as well as on the navigation pane like the option to hide all libraries, etc. you will want to review the guide for this at This PC 'Folders' - Add or Remove in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Another guide is how remove the drives from the navigation pane as well. Drives in Navigation Pane - Add or Remove in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

A favorite here for certain is How Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10

You will find those changes can make things a lot easier for you! :)

Right click on the Desktop and select Personalize.
Click on Themes then Desktop icon settings.
Select the icons you want on the Desktop. Computer = This PC.

Click on Start then Settings to open Settings. Normally it's not used enough to warrant a desktop link and I don't know how to put one there anyway :)

Another fast option I will use at times is browsing direct to the "C:\Windows" directory itself and simply right clicking on the "explorer.exe" file which is the main executable for the Windows shell itself. You simply choose the "create shortcut" option and will be prompted by a message that the shortcut will be created on the desktop since it can't be created in that location. From there right click on the new shortcut and rename it to File Explorer(new for 10), Windows Explorer, or you could even rename it to This PC as a direct explorer shortcut. Once you have named it the way you want and double click on the new shortcut watch what is seen when the new explorer appears as shown in the next screen here.

You can then pin that to the Start menu tile section as well as to the taskbar. You will notice the clutter of items under Quick Access and on the navigation is already eliminated opening to the This PC directly.
