I can assist you, no problem, but I can't assure you that your PC won't be harmed.
Edwin, if it crashes then I am up the creek without a paddle. Simply, because I don't know how to fix it once it crashes. Also, I don't have the money to get it fixed.

    That's why you make backups.

Well, my external hard drive is not here yet. All I have for backups are USB ports.

My computer is an Acer AXC-603G-UW12 with Windows 8.1 x64. 1 TB Hard Drive. Also, no I do not have any recovery disks coming from Acer. I have an external hard drive coming with Windows 8.1 on it. It should be here anytime. I think it would be cheaper to make them myself, because Acer may charge me. I don't know.
I thought a bit more about this, still don't know Acer though

See what their support says about creating media on disc. I created my install Win7 HP Recovery media on disc. So there are two things I'm not sure about, creating Acer Recovery media and creating Win8 Recovery media on DVD for an Acer machine. Win8 is just different, so I'm not sure how Acer set up their recovery.

I am sorry you couldn't help me. Again, I will wait for the finished version of Windows 10 unless someone can assure me that this will not hurt my computer and they can assist me on what I should do. Thanks, and have a good day.
Don't worry about it Jesse. I can't make the decision for you, it's your thread, your machine, your decision, and your time.

If you decide in earnest to go forth, I can certainly help you create a test environment. Anyone helping you will need your help - you're the eyes on your side of the monitor.

That means members need details - take the request for a Speccy report I made as an example. I gave you two install downloads, you said neither worked, but that was it - nothing about how they didn't work, no screen shot, no error message, nothing but "they didn't work". Please don't take this as criticism, but take it as advice that will make things easier for everyone. Feedback is really, really important - good feedback even better :)

I just stopped in to see how Edwin was faring - he's really a good guy who wants you to succeed.
Please extend Edwin every courtesy and anticipate his request for feedback - post output from what you're doing and report every error in detail. He shouldn't have to ask - you should know that he can't see what you see and post screen shots and error codes / messages.

I just caught the end post. It looks as though you're in a holding pattern until you can make backups.

back to the sidelines for me.

Good luck - decide one way or the other and let Edwin know your final decision.

What I would really like to do, is put it in a virtual machine. I have VMware player installed on my laptop. But, during the process of installing Windows TP on the VMware player, it said something about a driver it needed. This was on the installation process. I would rather not put it on my desktop. Would rather put it on my Win 7 laptop in a virtual machine. So, if you Bill (Slartybart) or Edwin can assist me on that, it would be greatly appreciated. Now, I don't have a lot of money and I do have autism. Maybe, explaining my situation a little bit more to you all will help you better understand me.
