Like I said on another thread, I don't have a microphone and I shan't be getting one.

I tried it a few times to see what it is all about. I do not play any games like halo and I just type and use my mouse. If I could open and run my programs then maybe.

Don't know yet about Cortana, haven't had time to 'play' with it. Same with Edge [Firefox is great on Win10]. I'm doing the 12th and 13th Upgrade now, love it when clients get infections and I can clean them up and Upgrade afterward for them.

My problem with this stuff is the intentions of their creators, whether it be Microsoft, Google, Apple, etc. They're making this stuff to gather data on its users for marketing/advertising purposes under the guise of usefulness. I despise Facebook for the same reason. There is nothing wrong with social media, other than why these companies are providing the service.

No , your definitely not the only one who hates it . I tried it out and found it to just be another annoying feature of Win 10 , now for people who can't type it's useful but i would much prefer to have it removed but thats not possible .

For the people who say go back to 7 , trust me there is nothing more that i would like than to do that and i have spent the last few days with some computer repair people and "windows updates" will not work with Win 7 anymore even after a complete reinstall.

Nobody can figure it out and everything was tried so unfortunately for me i'm stuck with this nightmare.

Like it or not, advertising is what keeps the internet free, The programs are not written for the purpose of collecting data, they are made for the things they are used for, but, they have to be supported some way. I use Facebook every day. It's a great way to keep in touch and that is it's purpose. I have even found old friends and family members I hadn't seen nor heard from in years.

Its great that you're getting use from Facebook. They're getting their use from you as well. I'm not jumping onto the Ads keep the internet alive sob story. They've gotten out of hand and have become an attack vector on people's PCs. If the internet has become so fragile that we need advertising shoved down our throats constantly in order to keep it alive, then maybe change needs to happen. What that change might be , I don't know but I've never clicked on an ad to buy anything and never will.

Install Windows 7, make sure automatic updates is enabled and just be patient. You'll be fully updated in 2~3 days. I think MS is prioritizing bandwidth for Windows 10 installs. Every Windows 7 machine I've loaded recently just hangs and hangs on checking for updates when done manually.

I wish people would raise enough stink to force MS to release a rollup package for 7.

So thats it huh , i hope thats the case . I will hold off until things normalize , no way i'm going to wait days for Win 7 updates to make sure i restart at the right time lol.

I thought it was hopeless , just long hours of constant searching and no finding of updates gets very annoying .
